Hi future nurses! I didn't see a discussion board for the summer term of 2017, so I decided to make one myself(: Let's use this forum to discuss grades, TEAS, and the application process. This does include venting! We all know how anxiety kicks in when there's a bump in the road. Good luck to everyone that is applying!
I can't wait for the application period opens. Anyone that is re-applying, any tips?
Now, I am really nervous about applying for even the summer start. The strange thing is, I got waitlisted for the fall with an interview and all during the second round. However for the Spring 2017 start, I got denied with the same score and statement. Now, I did take the TEAS exam again and rewrote my personal statement, but now hearing what Dani is saying, I don't know if my statement is convincing enough for the admissions committee. This is stressing me so much.
DOes anyone know for sure if the TEAS VI is acceptable? I think that is all ATI is offering since Aug. 31 but the UTMB website states the TEAS V as the requirement. I'm assuming they just haven't updated their information yet but I'm wondering if anyone has contacted the school to verify.
Previously when I had to submit applications thru NursingCAS I cut it down to the wire, through all my last minute classes and entrance exam studying I overlooking "allow 4-6 weeks for processing." That being said I think I submitted my application about 3 weeks prior to the deadline and they got everything process with plenty of time to spare. They seem pretty efficient.
Ok, I'm confused. I've taken the TEAS but would like to retake it for a possible higher score. Can I submit my application to UTMB (my NursingCAS one) and go back and add my TEAS score later this month (if I do retake it)? I'm just worried about the schools processing time, do they require your TEAS scores prior to sending their application to you? Hope that all makes sense.
Just curious, where are you guys getting your GPA breakdowns from? I have transcripts from various schools so it's difficult to calculate. Are they displayed somewhere on NursingCAS?
I just received an email this morning saying I was added to the wait list for Spring 2017. At my interview, the admissions counselor told me to reapply for Summer 2017 as a backup plan without changing a thing or retaking any classes. To give you an idea of where my scores ranged:Overall GPA: 3.22
Science GPA: 3.18
TEAS Score: 90.7% (According to ATI it's in the 99th percentile)
My grades in college were obviously not nearly as stellar as most other applicants, but the fact that I got wait listed at a school as reputable as UTMB has given me high hopes. I can only hope that things will continue to look up and I'll get accepted either this spring or summer.

So it's better to be really dramatic with the statement? I don't want to write one that sounds ungenuine or desperate.
