UTMB Summer 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi future nurses! I didn't see a discussion board for the summer term of 2017, so I decided to make one myself(: Let's use this forum to discuss grades, TEAS, and the application process. This does include venting! We all know how anxiety kicks in when there's a bump in the road. Good luck to everyone that is applying!

I can't wait for the application period opens. Anyone that is re-applying, any tips?

Well I got my official rejection for Spring so I will be submitting my application Thursday evening for Summer. I am considering retaking the TEAS.

What other schools is everyone applying to?

How long did it take for you to get the letter?

UTMB

ASU

UT Tylee accelerated

maybe TWu when their application opens again. I missed the deadline for taking the Teas last time

16 weeks!! That's why I'm so frustrated.

Omg that's insanely long ! Where else are you applying ?

They send rejections out as they go, I was just the last batch.

I'm applying pretty much everywhere!

I'm only applying to UTMB for now.

When you applied, did you send your TEAS score to UTMB directly, or just attached your score to the NCAS application?

Hello All!

I really hope I'm competitive enough... But we will see!

Overall GPA: 3.34

Science GPA: 3.55

TEAS: 82

My transcript has already been sent to NCAS and I'm almost done with my personal statement. I finally took the ATI TEAS today...

I made an 82 overall which is considered Advanced in the 91st national percentile

Reading - 81

Math - 94

Science - 72

English - 79

I'm not sure how I feel about my score... I really wish my science score was higher! It's been a year since I took A&P so I have a lot to review. I've been studying off of the TEAS V practice exams and didn't know they changed to a new test version until recently. Thus, I didn't have enough time to study from the most recent study guide before my scheduled test date.

For those who haven't taken the new version of TEAS:

- One of the two main differences b/t the TEAS V and TEAS VI (ATI TEAS) is that you get to use a calculator in the math section. That was no advantage to me since I always scored high in math w/o a calc. Still try to test yourself w/o a calc and see how fast and efficient your mind can solve a problem, then use the calculator a plus. It's best not to rely solely on a calc to solve all your problems b/c they only let you use the one on the computer.. which can take a long time going back n forth and clicking numbers!

- The second big difference is that the science section is super HEAVY on the A&P. You need to know much more detailed information about the Endocrine system and the Integumentary system.

So that's my tip for the day... If you don't mind me asking, what are everyone's stats?

Hmmmm I guess where I took it only offered teas v bc I def didn't get a calculator and I didn't perform well on that section. I don't think it had to do with me not knowing how to do it, I think I'm just use to using a calculator for simple math or checking my answers.

im not sure what the applicant pool is looking like for anyone to be considered competitive but all your stats look really good to me !

Thanks Mystique8!!! I sure hope so.. I'm not sure what the applicant pool is like either so now I'm riddled with anxiety:nailbiting:

When did you take your teas v? They just started the new version of teas this month.
