UTMB Summer 2016

Hey guys! I couldn't find a thread for UTMB Summer 2016 so I decided to make one. I guess because it's a little early since they just open for applications. This is the first time I use NursingCAS so I'm not quite sure how it work yet. If anyone is familiar with NursingCAS, could you please share your experience? I sent in my transcript 3 days ago and right now I'm working on my personal statement. I saw some previous threads where people mentioned about MyStar and supplemental application/document? Is it something you will receive after you submit everything on NursingCAS?

Hi everyone! I just submitted my application on the 15th. I scored an 86 on the TEAS, but my previous degree GPA is somewhere around 3.0. My science GPA is much higher because I went back to school to get my prereqs. I'm really relying on my personal statement, as my undergraduate experience was very stressful and took a toll on my GPA. I currently work in health care and have a ton of experience with jobs serving others. Do any of you know of students with lower GPAs getting in? I'm super worried about it and feel like I'm going crazy.

Hi all! Has anyone heard any updates for the Summer 2016 program? I am impatiently waiting a response and it is getting the better of me. I completed everything through NursingCAS as soon as the program opened; I've done the supplemental application; and even received my log in details for UTMB that shows I'm complete but still no word on my actual acceptance/denial.

Yes I do know a few who had low GPAs but still got in and I think it was due to their high TEAS scores! Looking at your TEAS score and healthcare experience, you should be able to get in!

No I haven't heard any updates for the Summer 2016 program. I am extremely excited and anxious to know my result! I have been waiting for awhile too! Lol! Looking back at the other forums for UTMB students, they did not get an interview invitation until the last week in October. So hopefully we find out before October ends.

No I haven't had the time to call them. If I don't hear anything after this week, then I am going to call them Monday.

This is the information provided on their website; "If we do not contact you in 10-12 weeks after you have submitted the UTMB SupplementalApplication, please contact us to follow-up on your application status." My supplemental application was submitted on 8/28 so I won't hit that 10 week mark until 11/6...ugh!!!

Hi! I've been following this thread for the longest but never really had anything to say until now. I've applied for the same semester as y'all and I just received my supplemental application today. Not sure if anyone has asked this yet but on the nursingCas application it states that the word count for the essay is 750 but on the supplemental it says 700. Should I be worried that I have an extra 50 words? I want to submit my statement again through the supplemental application but its going to be really difficult shortening it again. I hope I'm not the only one who made this mistake :(

No you should not be worried. My essay had 715 word count. You should be fine. I did not put my essay in the supplemental application because I already put in the nursing cas application. Plus, I didn't want to cut the words off my essay. But in myStar my status shows as complete so they have everything.

Great! Thank you for providing us that information! I am just in the fifth week so I still have more time left.

I contacted UTMB today and they said they barely started reviewing applications, so it should be a couple of more weeks before we hear anything

They told me the same thing. They also told me that they will be sending out letters for the interviews as they review the applications.
