UTMB Spring 2016

Published

Howdy! I couldn't find a thread for Spring 2016, so I figured I would start my own. I'm having trouble with this whole application thing (mostly stress!), so I would love to talk to others going through this same process!

I don't think you can be too formal. Just be professional and comfortable =)

These are my stats:

Undergrad: 3.7

Science: 4.0

Teas: 72% (I cry everytim)

200+ hours of Clinical Rotations

Starting to get worried since everyone is getting interviews scheduled up. :'(

Your stats are good! I'm sure you will get an interview. I think they do like 3 or 4 waves of interviews.

when you say 3 or 4 waves of interviews is that how many interview sessions they do on a person or for a group of people?

Like 3 or 4 groups that get interviewed around the same time. That's what I read going thru the Fall 2015 thread.

Does everyone get an interview? Do they deny people before interviewing?

**Also, just got an invitation to interview! I had received myStar on June 12, and my interview is on Monday!

I'm curious if they deny people before the interview too or do we still have a chance of getting rejected despite us getting an invitation.

I think most rejections happen before the interview. Most of those who interview get accepted. But I heard of some examples of people being rejected after the interview, not very many.

Oh, when I called they told me the rejection emails happen after the round of interviews. But i'm very confused about all this.

@ Dfalck3 Don't be confused. This is similar to any job interview process. Rejection emails are sent after people are interviewed, selected and hired. The rounds of interviews probably tell who their first choices are, second choices, etc. If they feel like they got enough qualified applicants from the pool, they stop interviewing. If they don't, they will continue interviewing and even extend admissions to those who they were "on the fence about" or invite people to interviews who they did not intend on interviewing in the first place. It depends on the pool of applicants. I think this is how it works...

I did read on last semesters thread that some people got denial letters I believe without being interviewed. Of course if you don't meet the minimum requirements I'm assuming. Most people that get interviewed from what I've seen either get accepted or wait listed. There were a lot wait listed last semester.

I talked to an admissions counselor late this afternoon! She said that not everyone gets interviews--meaning some people may get denial letters before interviewing. Stay positive everyone!
