UTMB Spring 2016

Published

Howdy! I couldn't find a thread for Spring 2016, so I figured I would start my own. I'm having trouble with this whole application thing (mostly stress!), so I would love to talk to others going through this same process!

@lowro,

I am on the waitlist for Fall 2015 with conditional acceptance for Spring 2016. I received an invitation to interview for the Fall 2015 semester when that semester's admissions were still in process. I am pretty sure we do not have to go through the interview process again for Spring 2016 because we did not have to reapply if we were granted conditional acceptance for Spring 2016.

@lowro

I agree with apl00, and was told we wouldn't have to interview again. As soon as it is definite that they are not going to pull us off the waitlist for Fall 2015, they will send us our acceptance letter for Spring 2016.

Had my interview today and it went really well. Did anyone receive an email about the background check and information to do your fingerprinting the same day as your interview?

I just received it and I haven't even interviewed yet. I think we all received it.

I just received it! Set up appointment!

Congrats!! Nothing to be nervous about! Did you also have a tour?

So, there are 2 separate background checks. 1 - for all applicants. 2 - for admitted students. The email we got was for all applicants. The other one will be done closer to the end of the year from what I understand and involves access to clinical sites.

I have a silly question. For everyone who already had their interviews, what did you guys wear? I know it says formal, but I want to get an idea of how "formal".

I got an invitation for an interview this morning!! I'm so excited but extremely nervous at the same time 😖

Here is my timeline: I submitted my NCAS application 05/30/15, it was verified on 06/26/15 and I received the supplemental application the same day. Then, I received my MyStar info on 07/06/15 and an invitation 16 days later. I would definitely call Melissa Herrington if you have any issue with your application, she is the enrollment service specialist. She helped expedite my MyStar info.

I schedule my interview for 08/05/15, which seems early compared to what I've read on other post.

I was a little concerned about what to wear too being that it's so hot right now. I ended up wearing black slacks, with black closed toe flats, and a cream silk short sleeved top.

@shasbus Thank you for the info! And no I didn't do a tour but I'm thinking about going to the information session that is August 14th I think and doing the tour then.

I think it's business casual. For men: could be dress pants or khakis and long sleeve shirt, no tie, dark shoes. Women: probably more freedom there as the combination of pants/skirt/blouse/shirt could work. Main things to remember, in my view, is to dress comfortably. Do not wear a jacket if it's hot and you will sweat; this will make you feel uncomfortable and can reflect on the interview. So, that's just common sense I think. Wear conservative cuts and colors (no hawaiian patterns). You want to draw attention to your colorful personality, not your colorful clothes. I wore a long sleeve shirt, but I rolled up the sleeves because it was hot. So it was business but casual. :)

That sounds good. I was thinking about wearing my formal skirt and a black shirt but I was afraid I looked too formal. But what you described sounds good.
