UTMB Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

The application process has just gotten under way for UTMB spring admission. Has anyone taken the TEAS tests? Any helpful hints on getting a high score?

Oh and supposedly those who got interviewed today will hear back in two weeks.

Was your first question about your personal statement? Because that question kind of got me. I had to make something up off the the top of my head that probably didn't even make sense when I spoke it out loud

My interview was today and it wasnt as scary as I thought it would be lol. Although i got to the building in my flip flips and had to rush back to my car for my shoes. My interviewer definitely emphasized that the program was hard and that even knowing that coming in it will still be hard. I think they just want everyone to know that it is tough and to be prepared for it. Ptpham6 I think I talked to you after your interview when you went back to the conference room. That or it wasnt you and I am totally guessing. Haha.

To those that have been interviewed already, What kind of questions did they ask?

Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

Congrats to all that have been accepted to UTMB and UTHSC! I applied to both schools and still have not heard anything (patiently waiting). I just wanted to ask for the stats of those who have been accepted or invited for an interview. Any info would be appreciated just to know where the acceptances are falling as far as scores and GPAs.

Again, congrats to those who have been accepted!

Oh hi! That was meee! Around like 10 right? Nice to meet you mam.

Here are my stats:

Prereq GPA: 3.7

Science GPA: 3.55

Teas: 87.3%

Good luck to all.

Honestly, these questions they ask are pretty general. I'm not sure what they asked the others but my questions revolved about how well I would adapt to the nursing life.

These are from several posts back. Everyone else who already got accepted or interviewed and those who wants to share can just copy and paste this and add their own stats so those who are still waiting has an idea what to expect =)

Hi everyone!

I was accepted last week in early acceptance. Does anyone who was also offered the partial scholarship know how much it is worth?

Good luck to everyone with interviews and who is waiting to hear!

Here are my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.7

Science GPA: 3.4

TEAS: 98

Hey guys so I was one of the people accepted last week too and just giving people with lower scores hope

My stats

GPA 3.6

Teas 82

I think my personal statement really helped me. Plus I mentioned that I worked at a dental office my senior yr in HS which I think might have helped. Congrats to all accepted and hang in there to all waiting!!! :)

Hi everyone,

Here are my stats:

GPA 3.6

Science GPA: 3.8

TEAS Score: 89

I was admitted for early admission without partial scholarship. I'm accepted to UTHSCSA as well. Still debating but will probably end up going to San Antonio since it's closer to where I live. I live in Austin by the way!

My gpa 3.1

TEAS 80

I got an interview! Just wanted to give hope to people with lower scores. It is possible! I think a lot of it was my personal statement and I have another degree. I am super happy that they look at the whole person and I almost couldnt believe it when I got the email for the interview!

I agree with everyone else's feelings about the actual interview. I think it's important to note it does go by very quickly and it is quite relaxed.

@Jayc: did you decide on which school you are going to attend? Just my two cents, I think it's important to think about which school's degree you would be proud to have hanging in your home. The difference in NCLEX pass rates is very small between the two (around 3 points). All that's left to consider is the commute and financial aspect.

Again, congrats to all the admits and people who have received an interview invite.

Good luck everyone!
