UTMB Spring 2014 Applicants

The application process has just gotten under way for UTMB spring admission. Has anyone taken the TEAS tests? Any helpful hints on getting a high score?

Thank you for the good vibes! I thought the idea of everyone HAVING to interview was a little much. Is UTMB your first choice?

I agree! I think it's such an overkill to interview EVERYONE that can potentially be accepted. And no, UTMB is not my first choice. I'm hoping to get into UT Houston medical center! So if I find out I get in, there's an extra spot available!

Thank you! And no this is my first time applying for UTMB. Here is my stats:

I applied in June.

GPA: 4.0, still finishing my last four courses this semester

Teas: 87%

I read my email again carefully because the first time I freaked out lol. I believe I got in without an interview process because they selected me for their early admission selection. I'm not exactly sure who they select for their early admission process because some people who have got an interview invitation also has similar gpa and teas score as me. I think our personal statement letter is strongly considered with their selection. This is some parts from the email I received earlier this morning:

Congratulations! You have been accepted for early admission into the Spring 2014 BSN Traditional Nursing program. We are excited to help you grow as a nursing student.

You may log into your MyStar account immediately (https://mystar.utmb.edu) to accept our invitation to become part of the UTMB School of Nursing. We have a long and proud history of educating professional nurses and we are on the leading edge of technological advancements. We have chosen you for your outstanding qualifications and you will join an elite group of students.

Please review the enclosed information that outlines the necessary requirements regarding immunizations and background check/drug screening"

Hey guys I checked my mystar yesterday and I had the green check and was asked if I'd like to accept the admission. Just like JayC. said some people were exempt from the interview process. I had confirmed it with a lady in admissions and she said the emails were sent out yesterday congratulating admitted students and may take 24-48hours to receive. I accepted my admission but I haven't received any email yet so imma wait out the 24-48hr period before I begin to freak out. Congrats to everyone that got the email!!!

What an exciting day for us applicants! At least we know interviews and acceptances are happening, though I'm sure everyone would prefer the latter.

Congratulations on being accepted as well Kali93! Are you going to attend the "Meet and Greet session" for the early admittance students? On the email they will send you, they will invite you for their session on Oct 18 1:30pm-3:00pm. It's not required for admission, btw.

I'm not too sure. I'll have to see cause I'm working this semester. I'm just hoping I receive the email and there was no glitch. I'm scared to get too happy lol. Cause once I accepted, my status went back to a green circle and I told the lady what happened but she said that was normal. But still I won't be at ease until that email

Anybody else's portal change over the weekend?

There has to be more acceptances coming before this Friday, only 3 admits thus far and that would make for a small meet and greet on Friday as Jayc mentioned.

Hopefully Monday and Tuesday some of y'all get good news!

Nope, I didn't have to do an interview. They just offered me acceptance for their early admission selection.

However, my spot will most likely be given up because I got accepted just now from UTHSC and it is my first choice primarily because of location. I just have to weigh out which school I want to go to because UTMB offered me partial scholarship each semester if I choose to attend.

Ill let you guys know if I give up my spot so that way you guys know there is another seat available!

JayC., you have a very tough choice. ;) I haven't heard from UTMB but I'm glad I got accepted to UTHSC today. :D
