UTMB Fall 2020

Published

Hey y'all! I will be applying for UTMB SON for fall 2020! I couldn't find a forum for it, so I decided to start one! It is a little early but many of you know it take forever to gather everything needed for the application! Please post all of your questions, stats, etc. SO excited to apply in November!

is anyone else still waiting to hear anything? I've been checking my email and myStar portal all day and there haven't been any changes yet ?

I know people still waiting! They send out multiple waves of acceptances so don’t worry! I’ve seen people get accepted and pulled off waitlists up until June/July.

Yea there’s two rounds apparently. Each with around 200 applications. So I spoke to UTMB and they said theyre gonna review the second round and acceptance letters will be given out in the beginning of April ? If you didn't receive any news you are in the second pool of applicants

I've been accepted as well! I just got out of work and opened my email to the news. CONGRATS to those accepted and I hope for some good news for others soon! ?

we should start one if not!

Hi guys! I got my acceptance email on Tuesday!

Does anybody know how/if we can just pay the $200 to reserve a spot, but decide not to go anymore? We have to respond by April 3, but I’m afraid twu will not respond before then. Also UTH won’t respond til may most likely.

Yeah! The only thing is the $200 won’t be refundable. I’m waiting kind of until last minute to hopefully get a reply from TWU. If not I’ll just pay the $200. But if I decide to not go, then I’ll just be losing the $200. But I’m sure you can accept the offer and change your mind later, plenty of people are waiting to hear from multiple schools.

Does anyone know UTMB’s acceptance rate, and if the personal statement would really help? I’m a student athlete (D1) who also worked all year so having perfect grades and internships was not the case for me. With regular GPA and science GPA being 3.01 and making a 75% on my TEAS; what would be my chances of getting in?

Hi! I am almost done with my first semester at UTMB and I thought I'd try to give you (and anyone else wondering) a peace of mind about the application process. For other reasons, I also didn't have a "great" GPA. Mine was about a 3.0 when I applied; however, I still got accepted. My TEAS was an 86. I personally believe I got accepted based off of my personal statement though. I poured my heart and soul into it. A high GPA and TEAS are always nice to have, but they do not guarantee you into the program. They really look at all aspects of your application (especially your personal statement)! They care about the type of person you are all-around. I have a friend that was waitlisted and had a 3.5 GPA and made in the mid-80s on the TEAS. My recommendation for you is to retake your TEAS if possible, because it will definitely go up just by taking it a second time (mine went up almost 8 points!) and wrote a really good personal statement. Good luck! ?
