Hi! I'm contemplating applying. I see that it's super competitive. Do you have to live in Galveston to complete the program?

I don’t think so! In previous threads people have came from all over, like dallas & other parts!

Hey! I am hoping to apply for FALL 2020 as well! I just have to take the TEAS which i am super nervous about. I took off a couple of years from school so my A&P knowledge is RUSTY. So currently trying to study on it myself again :/

Hey! I plan on taking my TEAS in November because I am taking A&P & Chemistry this semester! I’m also very nervous about it, but i think brushing up on your A&P will help out A LOT!

Hey guys! I'm planning on applying for Fall 2020 but I have a huge dilemma. My freshman year of college was extremely rocky. I'm talking about my GPA was below a 2.00. That was almost 4 years ago at UH, and I recently just went back to school (at a different community college) this past semester. Since then I've taken 6 Classes (19 Credits) and I have a 4.0 since returning back to school. Do you guys have any advice? None of the classes I took at UH are part of the pre-reqs for UTMB, so does anyone know how much weight those classes would have on their decision? I plan on explaining what happened in my personal statement but was just wondering what you guys suggest!

Hey @valamar7

Don't stress about it! Everything will work out! So UTMB looks at 3 GPA's (science, overall, and pre-requisite), when I emailed Mrs. Botello (admissions counselor at UTMB) she told me that a competitive candidate usually has a 3.35 GPA in all 3 of those and a 75% or higher on each section of the TEAS. What is your cumulative GPA now after taking those 6 courses? & what will it be at the time of your application this winter if you keep straight A's?

Right now with the 6 classes I am at a 2.87. After this winter though with straight A's I would most likely be at a 3.23. I think keeping straight A's is doable, but I'm still so anxious! Hopefully they're able to overlook my horrible freshman transcript. Guess I'll have to pick up the slack with that TEAS score ?

It is okay to be anxious, believe me I am so nervous about getting in! Don't compare your stats to anyone else's because UTMB admits on so many different cases. They base it off of everything you submit, not just your GPA. Work hard for your teas and write a bad *** personal transcript and resume, and hope for the best! I believe in you!
