UTMB Fall 2020

Hey y'all! I will be applying for UTMB SON for fall 2020! I couldn't find a forum for it, so I decided to start one! It is a little early but many of you know it take forever to gather everything needed for the application! Please post all of your questions, stats, etc. SO excited to apply in November!

Hey guys! I can't believe I'm finally commenting on one of these after months of looking through old threads, LOL.

I just submitted my application! I have around a 3.4 cumulative GPA and a 3.5 prereq GPA. I'm not sure what the science GPA is composed of, but I think mine is a 3.6ish. I also took the TEAS recently and got a 89.3%.

Good luck everyone!

Thank you so much! I’m a bit worried about my GPA - it seems like it’s getting more competitive every year.

The TEAS Secrets guide from Mometrix was super helpful, especially for the math, English, and reading sections. I even had a question on my test straight out of one of the practice tests! I also found that the Bozeman Science videos were really helpful for reviewing the body systems. Since I haven’t taken A&P 2 yet, those videos basically taught me everything I needed. Let me know if you have any other questions ?

What is an appropriate chemistry course? Can intro to chem be considered or just general chemistry 1

Same for Texas goverment. Is that government 1 or government 2?

Can art history count for arts?

What did you guys include for 'free elective' and 'elective science'

sorry for all the questions

Let me check what I put........

Okay, so I listed

* Gen. Chem 1 as my CHEM course (I think as long as it shows CHEM as a course abbreviation is should be okay- I'd email just to be sure).

* For Texas Government, I took a course that was actually labeled 'Texas Govt' so I'm not too sure if thats 1 or 2???

* Biochemistry 1 as my science elective

* Intro. to Dance as my art elective

and Psychology of Gender as my free elective.

you can check your course numbers to see if they will work for credit

intro chem and art history both work as credits

and for your elective science you can do pretty much anything I did biology and it was relatively easy

Hey guys!! I just started the spring semester. I literally just had my first week of classes this past week so it’s really fresh lol. I just wanted to ease some worries as far as GPA. I applied with a 3.19 cumulative and was still admitted into the program. They do look at more than grades and as long as you put your all into that personal statement and try your best on the teas you definitely have a great chance!!

Congratulations! I never post but I was wondering how high your teas grade was? Also, if you have any tips for the personal statement because I’m currently struggling with that. ?
