UTMB Fall 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I cannot believe it's actually time for me to apply to nursing school. It seems like I've been working on my pre-reqs forever now and it's finally here. I didn't see any utmb 2017 fall hopefuls yet so I thought I'd create a thread. I'm having one heck of a time with the application process. I'm taking my teas next Wednesday and submitting my application after that. Has anyone sent in their transcripts through nursingCAS yet? Anyone have any pre-reqs they still need to complete? I have one last semester to finish. Good luck to everyone applying this semester!

Oh man, I'm riddled with nerves now. I interviewed on the 23rd and haven't heard back yet. When I left UTMB I felt SO confident about my interview with how well it went, and now I'm second guessing myself thinking maybe it hadn't gone as well as I thought it had. 700 applicants? Oh. My. God. Yeah, that is crazy.. I'm super super nervous for an answer now. Does anyone have a back up plan?

not sure, she never specified which one!

To hear from them for an interview, or acceptance/rejection?

@cdh116, so you were offered to start in the summer even though you applied for Fall? I'm surprised you received a waitlist invitation then. That's odd that you were offered both but then put on the waitlist but then accepted, or am I just confused here? It seems to be like you should've been accepted right off the bat.

They sent emails out to students that they thought were well rounded candidates and offered them the chance to be considered for summer admission. Even if I would have been rejected for summer term my fall application would still be in place to be considered for that term admission. During my interview I was told people who received the email to start a term earlier would most likely automatically be put on the waiting list. Today I got a call and was told I can choose to be apart of the summer term or the fall term as I was accepted into both. I guess some people must have declined admission for the summer term and that took me off the waitlist for that term. I hope that makes sense.

I keep checking my email like literally every 15 minutes. It's become obsessive. I hate not knowing.

OH, so you were put on the Waitlist for Summer but accepted into Fall, and then they ended up needing spots to fill in Summer? I think I understand now.

Don't worry lol, they usually get about 800 applicants in the fall anyway. And I interviewed on the 13th and am waiting still so im sure you'll wait a little longer! They've said anywhere from 2-6 weeks to hear back

Woot! I'm in! Got the email for early admission yesterday! Good luck to everyone, I hope to see you on the other side!

yes basically lol! But I'm going to decline both offers since I received admission acceptance before them from TWU and some scholarship money.

When did you interview? Congrats!

I didn't know if you were talking to me or someone else...but I didn't interview. I was offered early admission because I met the qualifications for the honors program. So now I can start that application process. :-)

Good luck!

(My stats were 4.0 gpa in all prereqs and a 3.8 overall with a 87 TEAS, I'm in AP2 right now so I had to take it before I had even started AP2)

The same thing happened to me. They emailed me saying I could be considered to start in the summer vs the fall, unfortunately I had to turn it down as I'm still finishing classes. I had an interview with them over spring break for the first waive of applicants, but I still haven't heard anything else from them.
