UTMB Fall 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I cannot believe it's actually time for me to apply to nursing school. It seems like I've been working on my pre-reqs forever now and it's finally here. I didn't see any utmb 2017 fall hopefuls yet so I thought I'd create a thread. I'm having one heck of a time with the application process. I'm taking my teas next Wednesday and submitting my application after that. Has anyone sent in their transcripts through nursingCAS yet? Anyone have any pre-reqs they still need to complete? I have one last semester to finish. Good luck to everyone applying this semester!

Yeah but I think most everyone who applied to UTMB knew just about how their timelines go.

I certainly was not aware. I had been told the most would be until Spring Break, but we are passed that now. They should have a well-developed system of going through all the applications and keeping people updated.

They could definitely be a little more organized I think, but I did expect this process to be long just from what I've heard and looked up.

If this continues through May, I might just have to call them. We have requirements that we need to fulfill and it's not going to happen in 3 months. We have to do our shots, criminal background checks, and God knows what else.

I know they are interviewing all throughout april, and it seems like each wave is about 2 weeks. So interviews will probably go to the beginning of May.

You can actually start immunizations now. They will be the same pretty much for any school you apply to. Also going ahead with CPR is a good idea. Any nursing program will require that. They don't start looking at any applications until after the deadline closes to be fair to everyone entering the applicant pool. It takes approximately 6-12 weeks to go through the entire pool so mid-April is within that timeframe. It's hard but just be glad you know you already have an in with multiple schools. Not all of us do.

I never said I got in. 3 of the 5 responded, and only 1 accepted me, the other 2 rejected me. One said I was supposed to complete Chem 2 by the time I applied, which I hadn't been aware of and the other said it wouldn't accept the HESI scores I had sent as a pdf, and that they wanted me to buy and mail a copy, but the deadline was past and I should've done it before.

I've been keeping up to date with the summer 2017 hopefuls, and there were a handful of applicants that had had their interviews, and ended up getting denial letters very recently. Now that I don't agree with. I feel like they should send them both (acceptances/denials) out at the exact same time verses making the ones who are not chosen wait MONTHS. Seriously, one applicant had interviewed in November, and didn't receive their denial letter until March

I hope that doesn't happen with the fall pool as well.

I have heard people get denial letters without even receiving an interview..but I haven't heard of denials letters afterwards. I would hope they would still send you something letting you know you weren't accepted, so we wouldn't continue to wait without knowing anything! That's torture lol

Wow, I don't agree with that! It's no fair to make people wait and not know. They definitely should send acceptance and rejections at the same time

The admissions committee meets next Monday for the next wave!

Are they meeting next Monday to discuss who will be invited for the third round? When are they meeting to discuss second round interviews? I am not sure when we will hear back from 2nd round... I interviewed yesterday

I interview this Thursday at 9 am. It'd be awesome if they discussed Monday and I was able to find out within the end of this week.
