UTMB FALL 2014

Published

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

Don't worry y'all! GPA's will be calculated, transcripts will be received and supplemental apps will come soon. When I didn't get my supplemental app I was worried and emailed them and they told me to give it at least 5 business days. Things will fall in to place soon. Just keep thinking positive!

So does anyone know the "time line" of events? I am still waiting for GPA calculations. Then what?

So does anyone know the "time line" of events? I am still waiting for GPA calculations. Then what?

Here's the timeline that's on UTMB website

1. App Verified/GPA Calculated on NCAS

2. App is ES to UTMB

3. UTMB sends supplemental App

4. When Supp App is completed and UTMB has your TEAS V scores You will get email with MYSTAR info

5. Then goes to Enrollment Services to be prepared for review and decision - 4-6 WEEKS

This was posted in this post a few pages back.

Once my GPA was verified/calculated all the rest took place in about 5-7 days. I'm all complete...YaY!!!

Just submitted my supplemental application, woo!

Here's my timeline for the curious:

Transcripts Received: 12/30/13

NursingCAS Submitted: 1/10/14

NursingCAS Verified: 1/22/14

Supp. App. Received & Submitted: 1/23/14

Just waiting for the MYSTAR info so I can obsessively check my status like I'm already doing over at MyUTH, haha.

Is anyone having trouble on their personal statement on the Supplemental application? The problem is when I try to cut and paste my personal statement from microsoft office into the section, it will not fit all of my essay. The section keep getting error message even though my essay is only 696 words max.

If you read the little pint it's like instructions and a warning, it says that you may have trouble copying and pasting into your supplemental app. You're going to have to retype it out. I have Pages for Mac and it didn't let me copy and paste either.

For those wanting to know further detail about the timeline and process I got this from the UTMB site.

BSN Deadlines & Dates

We look forward to helping you achieve your career goals. In order to apply, please check our program requirements to ensure you have completed a minimum of 40 of the 60 prerequisite hours required for all BSN programs. We use the Nursing Centralized Application Service (NCAS), which enables you to apply on-line and identify the schools where you want your information sent. Before beginning the NCAS application, we strongly recommend you download the Firefox web browser, as older web browsers may cause you difficulty. In order to submit your application for admission, you need to first create an account at Nursing CAS https://portal.nursingcas.org/. Once created, your account may be used to save, edit and submit applications.

Apply early. Please note that all transcripts and application materials should be received at NCAS by the closing date (1/15/2014). You should request your transcripts be mailed by your educational institutions early so you meet the application deadline. Also please note that NursingCAS is on eastern time and your application needs to be submitted before 12:00 AM on 1/16/2014.

Please check your application status on Nursing CAS to determine when it has been verified. It takes approximately four weeks from the date of application for UTMB to receive your application from Nursing CAS. As soon as we receive it, Enrollment Services will send the UTMB supplemental application via email. When the supplemental application is returned, we will then proceed to have our Admissions Committee review your application. Note: Accelerated and Traditional BSN applicants also need to ensure their TEAS scores are submitted directly to UTMB. Please refer to the Approximate Application Timeline under the Future Students menu on our website for more details regarding the application process.

Summer 2014 Admission - Accelerated BSN Program

Fall 2014 Admission - Traditional BSN Program and RN-BSN Program NCAS applications accepted November 15, 2013 through January 15, 2014

Semester begins August 2014 - Traditional BSN (4 semesters) RN-BSN (2 or 3 semesters)

It also said on the supplemental that if you did not submit the personal statement already on ncas then to put in the space they provided. I didn't even put mine in there since I already did on ncas and I didn't save it to my computer. My application was still shown as complete the next day.

The only reason I retyped mine into the application was because of my missing "a".

For those who received the supplemental application and are copy/pasting their personal statement into the text box and are still receiving the warning that they have special characters in the textbox, instead of retyping the entire statement, there is a website called

www. articleformatter .com (without spaces in between of course). Copy and pasting your statement into the textbox on this website and clicking the "format" button will remove any special characters in your statement and it will be copy/paste ready for the supplemental app. Just wanted to share that info for people who wanted to put their personal statement on the supplemental app without typing it all over again! :)

Also does anyone know how long it takes to receive the mySTAR info from UTMB? I submitted my supplemental last night with payment and everything and I still have not received the mySTAR emails from UTMB. I'm thinking it might have been because of the inclement weather? Or maybe it normally takes a day or two?

It will take about 3 - 5 business days to get the mystar info.
