Just wanted to start a thread to see how many others have applied to the BACC2 program and hopefully we can keep track when interviews start, letters get sent, etc.
So, have you sent in your application, and when do you think you will first hear something? I know last year, interviews didn't start until October, but I have a feeling that they were still trying to play catch-up from Ike. Considering that some of the Fall 2010 applicants were contacted on March 1st for interviews when the application period ended Feb. 15th, I'm hoping that maybe August could be a possiblity for us to hear from UTMB. Any one else have thoughts about this?
Here's to all the BACC2 2011 applicants! Good luck!
Hi All -
Just wanted to chime in. I too have applied for the BACC2. Taking 4 prereqs this summer, and have my last 2 in the fall. I saw on another thread that we should here back regarding interviews at the middle of this month until September. Not sure if that applies for both the accelerated and traditional programs.
For those who get in, are you going to be moving down to Galveston? Anyone planning to commute from the Houston area? Just curious.
Either way....good luck everyone!!
From reading previous threads, I'm pretty certain that they interview for both programs at the same time, but LindsayPaige knows more about this.
As for location, I'm sticking where I am. I'm in Clear Lake and currently work downtown, so the trip to Galveston really isn't much of a difference from what I am already doing.
I think they accept somewhere around 50 and they have already offered 17 spots. What are your stats, GPA, volunteer, etc?
I have a 3.9 overall with the nursing prerequisites, 4.0 in the science prereqs, and 3.5 undergrad gpa. I'm finishing up 4 prereqs this summer and have my last 2 classes this fall, and I'm getting EMT-B certified this fall as well.
I work in a hospital, but its mainly handling medical equipment. Not much patient interaction, clinically. I have volunteered a little at a local nursing home. I'm gonna try to get back into the volunteering once fall semester starts up. Four classes this summer and full-time work took away from that.
I was worried about how competitive I was so I took the TEAS just in case to be considered for the traditional should I not get into BACC2. Got a 91 overall on it; Reading 85, Math 93, Sciences 87, English 96.

LindsayPaige: The same thing happened to me: accepted to the BSN, then accepted the BACC2 later. Have you signed up for the Financial Aid Portal yet? I need them to change my info because they still have me incoming for August.
