Utica College Online ABSN

Updated:   Published

So, I looked through the archives and I couldn't find any recent reviews of Utica College's Online ABSN program. The courses are online and the clinicals are held near campus. Does anyone on here have any feedback for this program? I am not looking for advice on online vs. brick and mortar--that is research I have done a ton of: on here, elsewhere, via personal experience, etc, etc... Anyone go through this program? ♥️

@schan006 sorry for the late response. Just seeing this! Yes you do need the Chemistry textbook, there's an access code in there which you need for homework, quizzes & exams. You will also need a labpak for labs. Everything cost me about $550 plus tax(lab pack & textbook), I almost fainted ?.I am taking the class now & it's a LOT of information for 8weeks so be ready!

You make your payment through your banner account, there should be an instruction on how to go about it when you actually get the email about the class starting(I think 2weeks before it starts).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

@IntendingRN yeah i was looking at the prices for the book and lab kit and they are insane haha but i guess ill be needing them. Thanks for the info though, i definitely wont be looking forward to taking chemistry all over again!

Anyone starting this program in May?

I am!! I’ll be starting in the Syracuse area ...

Great.! Me too. I'll be starting in Syracuse

So will the May cohort be starting? I know the University of Rochester has cancelled their May 2020 cohort start. Wondering if other schools are doing the same?

I applied for Fall 2020 to both Utica and U of R. Apparently I will find out about acceptance to Utica sometime this week!

@CAllen15 so Utica still says we're starting in May as of this morning except COVID-19 gets worse.

I’m applying for Fall 2020. Any advice/tips on off campus housing? Does the school help with finding housing?

Hey there - I’ve been accepted for Fall 2020 but I will be commuting (live an hour and 15 min away) so I have no info on housing unfortunately.

Hi guys !! I just got into the fall 2020 cohort. I am still waiting on a few more schools but I was hoping to get someones insight on the program, if its worth it, doable, etc! Also will be moving up there if I accept it, so any information on housing would be great.

THANKS

CONGRATS! Like you, I am accepted but waiting on another school which is my preferred choice. If I am not accepted there then Utica it is. I want to be excited about Utica but I’ve not heard good things about this program. Basically you are teaching yourself and the instructors are not supportive or much help sums it up. Those I’ve spoken to say they don’t recommend it unless it’s the only option you have. My pre-reqs are at the 10 yr mark so I am limited and therefore in that “last resort” boat.

Thank you !! CONGRATS to you too!! I was very excited at first until I discovered this forum, then saw other reviews and it kind of scared me off. It's kind of discouraging. I'm used to teaching myself throughout college but its a nursing program so I would expect more. I hope it isn't as bad as the reviews say its going to be ?
