Utica College Online ABSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

So, I looked through the archives and I couldn't find any recent reviews of Utica College's Online ABSN program. The courses are online and the clinicals are held near campus. Does anyone on here have any feedback for this program? I am not looking for advice on online vs. brick and mortar--that is research I have done a ton of: on here, elsewhere, via personal experience, etc, etc... Anyone go through this program? ♥️

Following ! I’m also applying and would love some input from someone who is in the program ?

Hi! I’m currently in the program. It’s definitely difficult but totally doable. I think you really need to have good study skills and time management skills to succeed. If you can dedicate 16 months of your life to studying then you’ll be fine! You do have to teach yourself sometimes so having some kind of background in healthcare is super helpful. Looks like you’re an EMT so that’ll definitely benefit you! I think a lot of people fall behind because they think they can slack off with online courses but you really have to keep up with the material if you want to do well. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

I honestly think the bad reviews for the program are from people who didn’t put in the effort and are just upset that they couldn’t make it. I hope his helps!

@sleepymonkey022 are you in the Florida program or Syracuse program? I just got provisionally accepted to the Syracuse program. I have 1 class to take to complete my pre reqs. I am worried sick. This program has a TON of negative reviews. Are the professors helpful in answering student questions? Any advice truly helps. @Abatista9 did you apply? What campus are you looking at? @abatista

@IntendingRN I was also provisionally accepted for the Syracuse campus. I was worried about the negative comments as well, but on the NCLEX website they have an 85 % first pass rate with over 100 students taking it. All of these accelerated nursing programs are difficult and I think the people who have bad experiences tend to voice their experience more.

@Futurenurse1096 I couldn't agree more. When do you start? Are you moving to Syracuse or you already live there?

I’m in the Syracuse program. And I definitely agree with @Futurenurse1096 - the people with bad experiences voice their opinion more.

@IntendingRN There are multiple professors so it depends on who you get. But everybody tends to share their notes and study guides within the cohort so that helps. The best advice I can give you is just to stay on top of things- make sure you’re looking at each classes’ material every week. We had a habit of only focusing on whatever class we had the next test on but this makes it easy to fall behind. Just put in the work and you will do fine!

@sleepymonkey022 thank you so much. Will keep that in mind. At least I feel much better knowing someone in the program & is been positive ??

@IntendingRN I would start in the fall and would have to relocate from Buffalo. How about you? I am not 100% if I will be going here yet, but I really like the idea of a hybrid format, and am leaning towards attending Utica.

@Futurenurse1096 I start Fall 2020 cause I have to take a chemistry class this fall( also at Utica, all online). I'll be moving to Syracuse from Rhode Island. The Hybrid format is also what's got me locked in & the fact that it's a BSN program.

@sleepymonkey022 Do the online classes involve a professor recording a video lecture? Or is it more like textbook readings?

@IntendingRN Good luck with chemistry!!
