Utica College Online ABSN

Updated:   Published

So, I looked through the archives and I couldn't find any recent reviews of Utica College's Online ABSN program. The courses are online and the clinicals are held near campus. Does anyone on here have any feedback for this program? I am not looking for advice on online vs. brick and mortar--that is research I have done a ton of: on here, elsewhere, via personal experience, etc, etc... Anyone go through this program? ♥️

@sleepymonkey022 Do the online classes involve a professor recording a video lecture? Or is it more like textbook readings?

The professors do a weekly live session for the main classes. It’s basically a chat room where they will share their lecture slides and give their “lectures”. It benefits you a lot more if you do the readings before the sessions so you can actually follow along and answer their questions. But if you don’t attend, they always post them afterwards!

@sleepymonkey022 Can you provide any details on the clinical schedule? I'm strongly considering this program, but my husband will be two hours away while I'm in the program. I'm just wondering how realistic my goal of seeing each other once a week will be.

@lindsay313 so first semester clinical is only the last 6 weeks of the semester. It’s once a week and you’ll find out which day probably a few weeks into the semester. It shouldn’t be too hard to make those trips in the beginning but I think it would be tough once exams get started

Hey guys! So I applied and was accepted to the Miramar campus. I have also been skeptical about the really really bad reviews but their NCLEX pass rate is high and I don’t think CCNE would keep accrediting them if they were so bad. Any thoughts on this ABSN campus and program?

@sleepymonkey022 Thank you for the information! @Becca Curtis I have been researching others schools around the country and have read bad reviews about almost all of them! Any ABSN program is going to be difficult in my opinion!

Okay that’s what I was thinking!! I have read bad reviews everywhere as well. I feel like it’s all people that didn’t put the time in and didn’t have the motivation to be a nurse. I personally learn things better sometimes when I can take the time and teach myself. Are you currently in the program? If so, which campus?

I completely agree! I like that the program is hybrid, but some people do better in a traditional classroom setting. I was provisionally accepted to the Syracuse, NY location for the fall!

Oh nice!!! Congrats!

Is anyone attending the Syracuse Campus in the Fall?

@_FutureRN_ I was provisionally accepted to the Syracuse campus in the fall and will most likely be attending!

Same here..I’ll be relocating from NYC. How about yourself? @Futurenurse1096

@_futurenurse1096_ I'm actually from NYC, but I will be relocating from Buffalo!
