Sorry I didn't want this post to get mixed up with the other thread haha it's so long.
Anyways wondering if anyone else applied for the Spring 09. Im also wondering if its worth buying the study guide for the TEAS that they are selling and what kind of questions they ask you in the interview.
I'm so nervous because mine is coming up!
-Thanks Duc
Its done Test and Interview...
The numbers sort of confused me but my adjusted score was a 85.3 i'm hoping thats the one that matters. Everything was fairly easy but the Science section kicked my butt...
The interview was a breeze it was basically like talking to a friend. Hardest question was like what made you pick nursing.
Anyways if anyone has any other questions feel free to ask.
P.S. I was told that letters of acceptance would be sent out MID October... Lets hope thats right..
rfs2886,
No that wasnt me my test was at 8:30am and then the interview at 1:30. I remember most of the people i talked to were from around San Antonio haha and also I went to UT-Dallas.
Seems like no one knows how many they accept in both programs >.<. which one did you apply to man mid october is around the corner and everyday i dont get a letter its more of downer haha..>
From what I understand (and take everything I say with a grain of salt because I'm not sure) they interview about 200 people. Out of those 200 they select 120 to admit. Out of those 120 they choose the top 20 (based on GPA, TEAS, and interview) that already have degrees to go into the accelerated. So around 100 go into the generic program and 20 into the accelerated. According to this FAQ there are usually around 400 to 500 total applicants.
I applied to the generic because I did not see an accelerated option on the application. When I emailed them they said that you have to apply to the generic and then if you are accepted into the generic program and have a degree they will consider you for the accelerated. I hope that's right. If not, then I may end up in the generic even though I could have been eligible for the accelerated.
From previous posts, it seems that the accelerated is very competitive as at least twice as many are eligible for the accelerated as there are spots. I haven't been able to find anyone that knows the average GPA and TEAS score of those admitted into the accelerated last semester.
I understand that feeling. I get excited every time a go check the mail and most of the time I am only getting bills. I applied to both programs. Everyone is right -if you have a degree they automatically consider you for the accelerated program and if you do not get into the accelerated, they consider you for the generic. For some reason I feel that for the accelerated program, they try to select people who they feel can handle the time crunch as well as high scores. It is a waste of time for them to select someone who wont do well in the program. In my interview that asked me a question on how I handle my time management and if I could handle an accelerated program. Hopefully my answer was good enough.

The lady who interviewed me specifically asked if I would be interested in the accelerated program, but I'm sure that as long as you have a degree they will consider you for it. Then if you get accepted into it, you're good to go.
It says on the FAQ that a 3.0 is competitive, but do they mean just prereq, or cumulative also? Anyone have a clue? Is the cumulative just used for the first round to narrow down the the field of people they interview? (wishful thinking on my part probably)
You know what I've noticed? Seems that most of the people posting on the threads for previous semesters in this forum have made it in. Here's hoping we all do, too!
For anyone who is curious, I bought the study guide. I didn't really get to study before taking the test, but I felt that if I would have studied, I would have done better on the test. The test is just like the study guide. The interview was just as easy as everyone said. My interviewer started out by saying she has not choice in the process and she is just passing on info to the admissions. I don't believe that at all, I am sure the interviewer has a say... When the interview was over, we turned a 15 min interview into 45, she closed by telling me what she saw. So, I got instant feedback. And during the interview she told me that she wanted me in the program. All good signs, my teas was 86.5 my prereq gpa 3.61 and overall is 3.4. I know that everyone is worried about getting in. But if you care enough to worry, then I am sure you will all do great.
Pookster,
During my interview the lady asked if I had a degree. I'm not sure if she had this information and was verifying or if that's just a question they ask everyone. As far as GPA, I think they probably put the most weight on the pre-req GPA so that they can compare apples to apples with all applicants. The interview is what I am most concerned with. My interviewer was very nice and easy to talk to but did not let on one way or the other as to how I did with the interview. I could have done really well or really bad. Not really sure. Too bad they don't give you a grade at the end of the interview so you can see how you did.
Edited to add: I agree with you. It does seem like the majority of people on allnurses that applied last semester got accepted. Let's hope it's the same for this semester.
