UTHSCSA - UT Health Science Center at San Antonio

I applied for the Fall 2008 Accelerated BSN program and am very excited to have an interview on April 10 - the letter just came in the mail today! Anyway, I wasn't able to find any recent threads for applicants applying for this year so wanted to see if there were any applicants out there.

I'm interested to hear from any current or former students in the program. Is this a good program? What are some of the pros and cons?

I currently live in Houston and prefer to stay if I am accepted to any of the 3 nursing schools here, but I would certainly not hesitate to relocate to SA for nursing school.

My interview was April 2nd (almost 3 weeks ago). I still haven't heard ANYTHING. It's been 10 days since they finished interviews, but really only 6 business days since weekends surely don't count. This is really driving me nuts!!! :uhoh3: I called when interviews were over and they said they would let us know "in a couple of weeks"...AAAAH! I know that the Fall 2007 class found out around the 17th of this month. So we can't be too far away!!! I'd rather know NOW, but we don't have much of a choice but to wait

I feel your pain. My interview with UTHSC Houston was Feb 7 and I found out exactly two months later on April 7. Longest 2 months of my life!

Keep your self busy and it might reduce the anxiety of it all. I became an expert baker of cookies and cakes. :chuckle

Hello.. My interview with UTHSCSA was April 19th... if I'm right.. my seems the last day of the interview. And the lady told us that SON will let us know 2 weeks after... That's mean~~we might probably know something around the end of this week or beginning of next week though!!!! GOOD LUCK everyones!!! ^ ^

I'm really nervous to find out the resultssss too..

Therefore, I try to keep myself extremetly busy every moment... even write down the schedule for what I should do next... hehehehe

Ooo by the way, Corine.. you have an early interview though!!!

They might give you some extra points though!!!!

Don't stress yourself too much..

I called the school today and the secretary said acceptance letters will be going out this week. I was told that the last day of interviews was April, 11. That was the day I interviewed and tested and both the lady interviewing me and the test proctor said that the 11th was the last day.

greenbeanfufu...your interview was the 19th? that was saturday? maybe you mean the 11th? That was the same day as mine and they said it was the last day for interviews? Which program are you applying for?

hi there

i'm planning to apply within two years but i seem to have problems with my english class. what's is the competitive gpa? (besides 4.0 ) if my gpa is not as high , does that mean i need to look at other school? or anything will help increase my chance of getting in?

:bowingpur

I've spoken to Dr. Adelita Cantu from the health science center and she told me that 3.5 is the average GPA that many students go in with, but that's not to say that if you have anything lower means that you won't get in. It sounds like you have quite a bit of time ahead of you before you apply, so focus more on your sciences. Of course, do well in all of your classes, but when they look at GPA, they look at 2 GPAs: your overall GPA and your science GPA.
