UTHSCSA - UT Health Science Center at San Antonio

Published

I applied for the Fall 2008 accelerated BSN program and am very excited to have an interview on April 10 - the letter just came in the mail today! Anyway, I wasn't able to find any recent threads for applicants applying for this year so wanted to see if there were any applicants out there.

I'm interested to hear from any current or former students in the program. Is this a good program? What are some of the pros and cons?

I currently live in Houston and prefer to stay if I am accepted to any of the 3 nursing schools here, but I would certainly not hesitate to relocate to SA for nursing school.

Hey I am not current or former but I did just get an interview myself for april 11 for the generic program. I am really excited and nervous but I can't wait!!!!I rarely see anyone on here posting about this school however! :nuke:

I am not or have not been a student at this school, but UTHSC students used to come to my floor for clinicals at the hospital where I worked. We used to see students from just about every local nursing school, and I always thought the UTHSC students were the most organized, respectful, prepared, professional, and neat-in-appearance students that rotated through. Props to their school for that :nurse:

Hey! I'm a former student from UTHSCSA....just graduated in December. If anyone has specific questions let me know and I will answer!

some of my classmates are rotating through the NICU at methodist, I hear its huge!!!! they say most of the NICU nurses are nice :D

:nurse: I have an interview for the 11th, too! I'm both excited and nervous. I would really like to go to UTHSCSA -SON since I already have a BS in Biology and that qualifies me for acceptance into the accelrated program. Anyhow, does anyone know what questions the interview process throws at you? I heard it's basic questions, but it's always nice to be prepared. Also, anyone want to share about the TEAS? The people I know who have taken it scored in the mid 80s for the most part, is that good enough?

HEY ALL!! I recently had my interview for the spring semester at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. It went really well, but my TEAS score was only an 81. I'm curious what others scored?? Also, does anyone know when letters will go out? I'm very excited and anxious to know if I got in!!!!

Hey Lily,

Congrats on making it through the interview. Mine is on Friday and I am getting really anxious!

I know a couple of people who took the TEAS for this acceptance round and they all have scored in the 80's, too. The highest I have heard is an 89. I think you have a good shot!

Can I ask you what they ask in the interview? Did you buy the study guide and the online assessments? If so, do you think they helped?

Thanks.

The interview was not bad at all! They basically just wanted you to tell them a little bit about yourself, why you chose their school, etc. Really basic questions. The lady who interviewed me was really nice, it didn't feel like an interview at all, just a friendly conversation.

I did buy the study guide and I think it helped. The test was not bad but if you haven't taken some of your science classes yet (like me) then the science section was a little tough. Overall, it went really well. Everyone there is really nice and very helpful! Good Luck! Do you know when interviews end and/or letters are sent out??

My test/interview is friday also...I am super nervous/excited!! Does anybody know what the average score of those who have been accepted in the past?

Good luck to all!!!!!!:up::bugeyes:
