UTHSCSA Traditional BSN Application Fall 15

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey guys!

So the application to start in the Fall of 2015 is due on February 1st. Really, that is right around the corner if you think about it!

Let this thread be dedicated to all hopefuls!

I still have to take the Teas V, but I did buy the study guide with 2 tests so hopefully that helps. My cumulative GPA will be 3.2ish and my pre-req GPA will be close to 4.0. I'm extremely anxious about getting in that is for sure!

Teas was on the computer. I didn't ask because they made it clear to me that they don't evaluate transcripts. You can only apply and see what they say. It is a credit from George Washington university.

I mean we have to complete all of these prerequisite class so if your class isn't exactly what is on that list then I guess you really just have to wait until they review your application and transcripts. I hope that they accept it because it's now too late to take the class for the February deadline.

It isn't exactly what is listed, but it goes way more in depth than a regular micro class. I was a lab tech for 5 year and I worked in an actual microbiology lab so...

Hello everyone! I am glad I found this site... I had recently applied for the Spring semester but was denied due to my teas score of 63%. My GPA is compatible of 3.3 cumalitive and 3.4 math and science. I retake my teas test this tuesday.. I have been stressing out bad because of it! I really am hoping to get a higher score this time. I have been studying the ATI manual, 5 teast practice test book, the ATI online practice test, and any other free practice test I come across. Congrats to those who took their test and scored higher! Thats great! I am very happy for you'll..

Hi everyone! Just checking back in. Has anyone had there nursingcas application verified yet! I paid for mine on December 24th and I still haven't heard back.

And marcelas, welcome!

Good luck on your test. I think you will do fine. I had to take my TEAS twice too since the first time I took it I got a 69.3 and knew that wasn't competitive enough. So I retook it in November and got a 77.3 :D I think its just about getting used to the testing strategy.

Keep us updated!

I'm submitting mine sometime next week after my last 2 transcripts are taken care of. I would have done it earlier, and I had asked here about it in the last page or so, but the campuses are all closed until Monday (drove all the way out there and the doors were locked...), so nothing would have gotten done whether I emailed them or gone out there. It's probably not the most ideal way of going about this, but I want to wait until I take the TEAS (next Thursday, the 8th) to just get everything submitted at once.

(Sorry for the double post in advance...)

By the way, I went digging for last year's thread for Fall of 2014, here, for those who want to go through it and see if any questions they have might be answered in there. One thing I was wondering was how your time of submitting your NursingCAS application lines up with the school's official deadline, and from what I've read, it appears that so long as you hit the "submit" button in the application before February 1, you should be good.

I submitted an official transcript to be sent to NursingCAS from the Alamo colleges, and then emailed that other address and attached the 2 forms for NVC and SACI. It'll be 3-5 days to process and send it, so hopefully they'll get it before next week. I feel so behind with this, but I'm going out to the school tomorrow afternoon to see if I'm doing everything in a timely manner.

I'm working on the practice exams in the back of the TEAS book, and I'm getting a headache from it. I do pretty alright, except the first half of the reading section (themes, main ideas, topics, etc.). I'm having a hard time with distinguishing between those things, and I'm not really following how the book explains them. Any tips on how to help remember which would be which?

Transcribe key words into a notebook. Go over it every day.

Look up the definition of theme, main idea, topic sentence, supporting detail, etc. and write them down in a notebook until you have them memorized. This will help you on test day

Hey guys,

so my nursingcas application has been verified but I'm confused as to how they added my gap's. There is a separate GPA for each subject (math, science, english, and social science) And my math GPA is a 2.20 since I got a C in college algebra, but my science GPA is a 3.56. Would I add these 2 GPA's together and divide by 2? Or do I add all of my grades up based on the pre reqs for the health science center? Im freaking out

Well, took my TEAS yesterday, and I just got an email saying that the results were sent to the school, and that the results are ready.

Adjusted Individual Total Score: 89.3%

Reading: 88.1%

Mathematics: 86.7%

Science: 91.7%

English and Language Usage: 90.0%

Oh man, am I happy. I didn't do nearly as good on the practice exam I bought, and I was nervous all week for this (don't think I've ever been so nervous about an exam as this one). That made my week. :D
