Hey guys!
So the application to start in the Fall of 2015 is due on February 1st. Really, that is right around the corner if you think about it!
Let this thread be dedicated to all hopefuls!
I still have to take the Teas V, but I did buy the study guide with 2 tests so hopefully that helps. My cumulative GPA will be 3.2ish and my pre-req GPA will be close to 4.0. I'm extremely anxious about getting in that is for sure!

Hey,
Did you get in? I just took my HESI and TEAS. I got a 91.3% on the TEAS and 95% on the HESI. Are these competitive scores? How long did it take to hear back from the school?
Thank you
We don't apply until Feb 1st so we won't know until a few weeks after that. Am taking Teas V in November.

I got accepted!! I have met current students as well as other accepted students. If you have any questions, I may be able to track down the answer. I hope the best for you!
Thanks! What were your stats? GPA and Teas V scores.... I am planning on taking the Teas in November and have been studying for it since May.

Guess this is where I check in.
This is my last semester of pre-req classes (Chem II and Micro) before I'm done with what's needed, though I'll be taking a Medical Terminology course and an intro Spanish course in the spring (been living in San Antonio for over 10 years and I hardly know any). And I had my NursingCAS application 99% done, until they changed the application to 3.0, so now I have to go back through and do it all over again, and drive all over the city to get my transcripts in order. I've got the TEAS V study guide and I am looking to start studying it around Thanksgiving time and then take the exam itself in December or early-mid January. I have no idea what my overall GPA is from the college I've been to, but I've pulled A's in all of my sciences so far, which is nice.
@Shaynurse2016, how did you already find out if you got accepted (Fall 2015)? From what I gathered from last Spring's students, they didn't find out if they were accepted until a month or so after the deadline...so sometime in March.
Ratlady, I have two academic lives. My first, I did not do well in 2004. I returned back to school in 2013 and have a 4.0 GPA. However, UTHSCSA looks at the cumulative GPA. Mine was a 2.7. They also look at your math and science GPA for the nursing prereqs. Mine is about a 3.4. My TEAS score was a 91.3% overall. The TEAS is 59% of what they use to select their students. One suggestion I give to students is to purchase the following books to practice from. Even though you're not taking the HESI, the practice book is nicely written and helps remember some basics, which help with studying the TEAS review book.
Here is a list of study guides that I recommend (I purchased all from amazon):
HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review Edition 3 by Elsevier (white, purple, and green cover)
HESI-Prep Recommended Topics (go to UIW's site)
Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Version V by ati Nursing Education (orange, white, with boy on cover)
McGraw-Hill's 5 TEAS Practice Tests
Online ATI practice tests
Herrington,
I joined this discussion by mistake, but never removed myself. I applied for the Spring 2015 semester. We received our acceptance e-mails on September 23rd. We begin in January. I have also joined the correct group, UTHSCSA Spring 2015 group. I would like to stay on this one in case I can pass on any additional info to help you all. We are now completing our conditional requirements (e.g. background checks, online training, parking permits, etc.)

Oh, haha, understood, no problem!
Actually, I do have a question: We need 51/60 hours done by deadline (though I should have all 60), but for those extra hours that I plan on taking, the Medical Terminology and Spanish, do you know if we need to re-submit another NursingCAS application for those or do we take the transcripts to the school directly? I don't think the school will take it themselves, so I'm sort of confused as to how all of that work. The page that lists the requirements isn't really specific about what do to if you take the other 9 hours or other classes after the deadline.
But congratulations on making it in, and good luck!
I had the same thing happen to me. I had one Ethics class that I was still working on by the time the NursingCas app was submitted. You DO NOT have to re-submit your transcript to NursingCas. Once you receive your acceptance e-mail, you will be required to re-submit official copies of all transcripts directly to UTHSCSA. UTHSCSA will give you a few months to get them all turned in. For example, our deadline is December (about one week after the semester ends). You are able to order all official transcripts to be delivered to your home. This way you'll already have them and can hand deliver when the time comes. They also accept official PDF's of transcripts sent from schools that offer the service. Brandy Finck will supply all instructions on what should be done once you receive your conditional acceptance. One other thing, after you receive your acceptance, you will be required to get a Hep B titer to show that you are immune. You will want to get this done asap after getting your acceptance. Nothing to freak out about, but one student was not immune and had to do the A/B series plus another titer and get it in by the deadline. You will also need a second TB test done. They are giving us until December to get this done. Make sure you get your background check done as soon as they send you instructions. Some of the students received background check info a week before we got our acceptance e-mails.
I forgot to mention that the a student posted the following for those that are uninsured, "University Health System offers vaccines (all the ones we need) for $22. You can call 210-358-TALK to schedule an appointment. And you can get you HepB titer done for $49 without having to go through a physician and Dr. visit fees at Any Lab Test Now (there are several locations so check out anylabtestnow.com."
