UTHSCSA Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.

I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?

I just submitted my supplemental application not to long ago. I have already received a response back that it was received. Remember there's a suggested maximum of 350 words.

I found the first essay the easiest. I have prior experience as a medic in the military so I condensed all that information. I only put what seemed relevant to avoid rambling on.

Good luck everyone!

On the second essay, traits and qualities, did you just list them out or speak extensively on them. Traits like attention to details, ability to multi-task, passion for learning etc?

I would give a good trait/quality then related it to nursing. Example: I'm a team player and can work well within a team. Then explained how I thought that related to nursing/healthcare.

Thanks. So, did you have have 350 words also for the second essay?

No, I didn't. It was a little less than 350 words. I made sure to put down what I thought were my best traits/ qualities. Also, desirable traits/qualities I found in myself that I've also seen in nurses that have taken care of me. (Hopefully, that last part made sense).

Like, I've had a nurse that was a great listener and I appreciated that, and I feel like I'm a great listener and think that future patients would love a nurse that really listens to he or she.

Thank you so much

Thank you so much

You're welcome

In reference to essay question 1, what did you all put down as evidence of past work or volunteer experience.

I wrote about what I did while in the military and some red cross volunteer work I did while in high school. Things like that.

Okay. I thought they were wanting some hardcore proof lol.

Whoop! Supplemental application and the questionnaire have been submitted…

Now the waiting game begins!!!!

I've submitted everything but one looks like I've sent a blank document.

Lol, for real to keep my mind off waiting I've been working tons of overtime and like going to the gym every day (I've lost 13 pounds so far). I'm even about to wash my car and that hasn't been done since like February
