UTHSCSA Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.

I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?

Yes I saw the link. I'm pretty good with the math and reading portions as well. Science I'm ok and English and grammar used if just horrible. I found this website "grammar book.com" today and it was really helpful to me in understanding the English and grammar part. Give it a try you won't regret it. The site gives plenty of examples and quizzes on the subjects it covers. Best of luck @cici8304

Thank you so much! I will give it a try! Let me know how you did on the TEAS and what to expect! Oh, and remember to get there at LEAST thirty minutes EARLY. They won't let you test if you don't.

I called today and was told that the supp apps would be sent out (by email) by the middle of next week. She also told me that as long as we submit everything to ncas before the deadline the app will be considered if all requirements for admission were met.

Oh that's awesome! And nerve wrecking at the same time. Thanks for the info!

Good luck to y'all taking the TEAS. I was calm the day of and during the test. It wasn't until after I submitted the test that I went into panic mood.

I took the practice TEAS A and failed the science part :( but my cumulative score was a 74. If you fail science, does it count against you or do they only go by the combined scores?

I think they look at the cumulative and scores for each section. When I did the practice test I didn't do to well. However, my actual scores, cumulative and separate for each section were overall better.

Don't be discouraged by that, you'll do fine on the actual test. I think they mainly look at the cumulative score for the test. Good luck Friday!

The practice tests are harder than the actual test. My first score was 58 and then the second one was 68. On the real deal I got 81.3. I also got my result immediately printed out, but I had to pay 27 to send the score to the school.

Hello. Has anyone received supplemental applications yet? I thought they were going to send them 10 -14 days after the deadline. I took the teas Saturday and I scored 76%. I have a friend who said she wasn't considered for admission based on her Teas score alone (she made a 70%) although she had a great gpa.

Waiting is so stressful!

The deadline is tomorrow 23:59. The lady in the admissions office said 2-3 days after the deadline for the supplemental application. So next week if they're on time this cycle. I know that as far as scores go, it depends on how everyone else scores this cycle. They obviously choose the higher scoring applicants. I hope all of us on here get accepted.

Do they send an email saying why they don't accept a person? I'm mostly worried about my TEAS score holding me back.

Hello to all again I took my teas on Tuesday my score went up at about 12 ish last night. My overall composite score was a 77. I'm really hating myself because I ran out of time on the math section because I had a mini panic attack, because the real test was moving much faster than anticipated. The biggest thing I can preach is don't freak out during the test, keep cool and calm during the test. My individual scores for each section were reading 88.1%, math 60% (I didn't finish ten questions), science 77, and English and language use 83% (I scored 30% better on the actual test then on the practice test). All in all I'm still happy with my score I'm just kicking myself because based on my averages on the math section from the practice test I could've got between an 80-85% composite score. Comments on the actual test are that the science section is random I had the same amount of chemistry and anatomy questions. I'd seen on other post that people were commenting that they got more chemistry than anything else. The science section was more applying what you have learned. Math, science, and English sections were all just like the practice test. Although there were some things on the English section that I hadn't seen before on any practice test I took. (Which is ordering sentences into a paragraph)
