I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.
I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?
I did! I guess I kinda just have my hopes up to go to uthscsa just to go ahead and get a BSN instead of adding on more school time.
I know what you mean. I'm really hoping to go to UTHSCSA too! But I'd also be ok if I got into Baptist. Just wouldn't like having to go back to complete my BSN while working. However, I've heard that it's mainly the "management" portion that you learn so some people have done it online!
I also don't know what they're TEAS cutoff score is
This is from Baptist admission checklist:
Minimum Scores - 69 Reading, 63.3 Math, 45.8 Science, 60 Englishï‚· Applicants can take the TEAS V test no more than two times in a 6 month period ANDmust wait a minimum of 30 days before testing for a second time.

Ugh I scored in the 70s for the TEAS. So if that's the case well, that's a bummer. My overall GPA is a 3.96 and my math/science GPA is a 4.0. So hopefully that'll do me well enough to get in
There were some people on the waitlist with stats like that. Awesome GPA, so so on the Teas. I don't know if you know, but before they had that the Teas was 59% of their decision. They took those percents off, but it's really important. I do think the 10 people on the waitlist were accepted though.

Yeah I'd definitely be okay going to Baptist too. I know lots of nurses that received their BSN a few years later on via online schools.

Hi Ratlady, thank you so much for the stats. Would you mind letting us know how the timeline was on the application process for you? Like when you received the supplemental app after the deadline, and how long acceptance took? I am so anxious for the next part of this process already!
