Hi Jen! How was the first semester ?Also I know I sent my TEAS transcript and received a verification email from ATI but should I call the school too to assure they got it?

It's going well. I'm finishing up my fourth week. I'm having a blast :)
You should be fine with the TEAS results, just keep the confirmation from ATI.

Hey Jen, do you guys already have clinicals at the hospital? Or is that until later?

How are clinicals the first semester? Is it a range of time and days (how many days)?
Yes, they started last week (week 3).
It's one day a week - either on Tuesday or Wednesday (whichever day you have clinical, you have the other day off). There are several sites to choose from, it's first come, first served.
My schedule is this:
Monday:
Foundations lecture, 7-10
Foundations lab, 10:30-12:30
Tuesday:
Foundations clinical, 6:30-2:30
Wednesday:
Off
Thursday:
Pathophysiology, 8-11
Concepts, 12-3
Friday:
Health assessments lecture: 7-9
Health assessments lab: 9:15-11:15

So by being a student at UTHSC do you get any student benefits to the dentist and clinic there ?
Also what about health insurance do you have to get your own or do they put it in tuition ?

I was told they do reduced cost dental work, but I'm not certain about it. You can go to the clinic, but you'll have to use insurance. They do offer counseling for free though, and mental health medication management.
You'll have the option to buy health insurance through the school, but it's not part of tuition. You'll have to have insurance though, it's a requirement. So you either need it through them, or through an employer/the marketplace.

Interesting, so they can provide insurance if need be?? That's awesome!
Hey Jen, so Im sure you can relate to the anxiety we feel as we wait for an answer now that the deadline has past.
Is there anything that we should begin doing as we wait?
When can we begin applying for scholarships and such?
Or how will we know the status of our applications?
Again thank you so much for your feedback and for taking the time to just simply answer our many questions.

You'll find out via email - though mine was in my junk folder. Our deadline was Aug 1, and we found out Sept 8. So, it's about 6 weeks.
You can't apply for scholarships through the school until you've been accepted.
As you wait, make sure you get BLS certified, and get your vaccinations/titers done.

Awesome that you!
Do you have any recommendations of a place to go for BLS certification?

This may sound bad, but titers? I know that I have to get re-vaccinated for Hep B...
Thanks for the Insurance link
