I've got two of my own :) I'm doing just fine. You really just have to stay on top of your material. All of your classes expect you to review the powerpoints and the objective before class, so that when you come to class, it's a review rather than everyone seeing the information for the first time. I spend an hour or two a day on Monday reviewing for Thursday's classes, Tuesday is clinical and I usually don't study. Wednesday is my day off, but I volunteer at two of the UT Health clinics, so I don't study really unless I have an exam. Thursday I study for Friday classes and over the weekend I do the bulk of my reviewing. The thing is, most of your grades are exams. You might have a project or two, but there's not really any homework. So all you're really doing is reviewing the material. The first few weeks are sort of brutal, because you're adjusting. But hopefully you have an awesome peer mentor to help you navigate through everything. There are also academic coaches that can help you set out a schedule and will keep you accountable if you need/want it. There is free tutoring and SI sessions for every class. And the labs are almost always open if you need practice with the tools and supplies and stuff. Also, my life tip: get your clinical at the VA if you can. I had SUCH an amazing experience there and I got to do all sorts of skills. The nurses were so helpful and ready to teach. There are quite a few of us with kiddos

i had a question about doing the VA for clinicals, what exactly is the clearance needed to do it there? Is it something we can do before registering?

If you register for the VA, you'll get information about their clearance. We had an orientation in early November where we signed a TON of paperwork, got fingerprinted and got our badge ID photos taken. So you can't do it before registering, but you will have to do it before school starts, as it takes a few weeks to get things in order.

Hi, may I know your stats? I was placed on a waitlist and didn't get it after all
Hi, what was your overall GPA & Teas Score? I've applied twice, got waitlisted twice and nothing

I went to college before the military and did horrible so, my cumulative gpa is just over 3.4. 3.88 since I left the military and started school again. I also got an 86 on my TEAS. I got a 93 on my HESI, and got accepted to TAMUCCs nursing school if you're looking to apply there. TAMUCC looks at your last 60 credit hours for making a decision.
Where's TAMUCC? I've applied twice to UTHSC, got placed on waitlist twice and never made it. :/ I don't want to lose hope
What were your stats?
TAMUCC is in Corpus Christi. College of Nursing and Health Sciences Texas A&M University Corpus Christi

Hello. I am going to apply soon. My grades are around the same range as yours. Did you get in?
