UTHSCSA Fall 2018

Published

I have applied to UTHSCSA and UIW Fall 2018... is there anyone else who is applying or has sent in their apps?? What are your stats?

My friend who denied her acceptance, UT extended the offer to her until yesterday to accept or deny since she never responded. So I'm thinking we should hear something back pretty soon

What is the time line like from here until orientation? Is there any other stuff we have to do between now and then that is not in our packet? Like when do we get our scrub uniforms or when do we do the drug test for clinicals?

Sorry for all the questions! I'm a little anxious lol :)

Sorry for taking so long! It's finals over here. I can join your Facebook group to answer questions if you need them to be answered more quickly.

You'll be getting an invitation to a family engagement breakfast for some time in June. This is your general intro to the school and the program.

Orientation will probably be the Thursday and Friday before the first day of school. It's all day Thursday and I think half day on Friday. Then you start on Monday.

No drug tests for clinicals. You can get your scrubs right now if you want to. Either at the school's bookstore, or a place across the street called Sunshine Uniforms.

I can't think of anything else you need to do, unless you choose the VA hospital for clinicals. You'll have to do an orientation there before school starts. Oh and a parking pass/ID. I'd get those before orientation, because everyone will be getting them during orientation.

Did anyone else receive the fingerprint email ?? Aside from the one who initially posted about receiving the email.

I got my acceptance on September 8th and didn't get the email for the fingerprints until mid-October.

Which is cheaper the bookstore or the place called sunshine uniforms?

Same price. I'd do bookstore though, based on feedback from people in my cohort.

Still no email for that training? Anybody knows anything?

When I called the lady said they would extend the date if they had to, but the classes only take about a hour.

I think they are redoing the knowledge center to make it more user friendly based on feedback from previous semesters. And they don't take long to complete.

The email the school sent said that we would get the information for the background check from Ms. Wilbon or from the administration. I just got an email from identgo directly that said it's from the TBON. So I don't know if this is from UT Health or from TAMUCC since I got into there too. Anyone else get an email from identgo?

When is the best time to begin looking around for used books? Ive seen some ads of people selling first semester books but I don't want to buy them without knowing if theyre the right ones. I found the list of courses taken for each semester, but theyre not posted in the bookstore yet because they havent updated it. So i'm not sure if I should just wait...

I got accepted to another program too and I recieved my email from Identogo about two or three weeks ago. It doesn't matter from what program it is because they all go through TBON to determine elegibility to take the NCLEX. Just go ahead and schedule your apointment as soon as possible so you don't miss the deadline. The fingerprints will be sent to DPS/FBI and then whether you do or don't pass the backgroud check will be sent to TBON. They will send you a post card when it is completed and you will scan that and send it to Ms. Wilbon.

Not until orientation - you'll have a peer mentor that will help you figure out which books you need and which ones you don't. I only purchased one book.
