UTHSCSA Fall 2016

Published

Let me try one more time. Anyone out there applying to UTHSCSA for the fall of 2016? The deadline is getting closer. How is everybody feeling? As for me I am a nervous wreck. I have taken my TEAS and completed all the courses. I am about finished with the application and I am just ready to know either way.

I'm pretty sure the supplemental application is the residency questionnaire. If so, it can be found here: ( http://nursing.uthscsa.edu/students/pdf/ResidencyQuestionnaire%20Edited.pdf ). It was supposed to be included in your application I believe. At least that's what it says on nursingcas.

Yes...so I guess they added the supplemental application to the actual application now. Hmmmm?

Hey everyone! I also applied for the Fall. I was told that we would hear back mid march. Now it's just hurry up and wait! I was really nervous about my GPA but not so much anymore looking at the new admissions averages. I have a 3.5 cumulative and a 3.3 math/science GPA. My TEAS score is 89.

My first choice school is A&M, which I also applied for. They offer a BSN for cheaper and it's all online with the exception of clinicals which are done in the hospital of your choosing. I'm in my 30s and can't really quit my job through nursing school.

Good luck to everyone and I hope to be able to give you all congratulations on your acceptances!

GPA: 3.1

Math/Science: 3.89

Teas: 78

Hopefully my cumulative GPA doesn't hold me back :(

I don't really think I'll get in. I have a Cumulative GPA of 2.9, Math/Science GPA of 3.9, and TEAS score of 89. My cumulative GPA will probably hold me back, but if I don't I'm already looking Concordia University in Austin.

I would not count yourself out novocaine4355. They look at the TEAS more, then the math/science gpa, then the cumulative gpa last, at least that is how they use to look at it until they took their criteria weight off the website. I am actually getting a bit nervous seeing everyone's TEAS scores (great job everyone). I made an 82.7 but both my gpa's are 3.8. I don't know... I really don't want to study and take that darn test again.

I hate obsessing about the numbers, but I still do. Don't you just want mid March to get here already?

I may be mistaken but I think they only accept cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Your other scores are phenomenal, you would literally just need to retake one class.

That's only math and science GPA. They accept 2.5 for cumulative. Now, to be competitive on the other hand is a whole different story. I dropped out of college 11 years ago with really bad grades. I've retaken all my courses now, but even if I had 2 more full semesters with A's it wouldn't get me to a 3.0. Yeah... I messed up that bad.

You're correct, I just looked over the numbers. I'm in the same boat with my grades from years ago. I originally pursued a Sociology degree and wasn't very motivated to make stellar grades. I'm wishing now that I had done better in my younger years. What's meant to be will be, acceptance or not. Do you know what the requirements are for Concordia?

Concordia is a little bit more forgiving it seems. Their school is a little newer (Within the last 5 years), but a bit more expensive as comparable to UIW. Their NCLEX pass rates in the years since opening are 80, 75, 95, and 100. Their class size is a little smaller (Ranging from 30 - 50ish) due to availability of clinical slots. I called and asked for the requirements and the answer I got was quote, "We don't like to publish our requirements because our program is competitive enough where we can choose anyone we'd like". That's an interesting approach, but it seems they really care about the TEAS test more than anything else. That's the vibe I got from the nursing admissions lady. I am meeting with her for an interview on the 15th, but the deadline for their fall semester is Augustish. It seems like a pretty easy process. From what I understand, all I have to do is bring sealed transcripts and send my TEAS score and she'll tell me if I'm in given our meeting goes well I guess. I'm sure there's more to it, but I'm down for an easy process like that.

That tuition, though! I saw that they offered quite a few scholarships on the website. Have you looked into the online BSN program at A&M?
