Hi everyone! So glad that this thread is finally getting responses! :) I took the TEAS exam after my invitation, did anyone else find theirs to be challenging? I heard that ATI changed the TEAS V format in mid-jan, so if you were talking it after that date (which is when I took mine) you were the guinea pigs for the newer version. I talked to UTHSCSA and they said that the average scores have been coming in 10-15 points lower than previous years TEAS. I did pretty well on my TEAS but a lot of the questions involved physics on the science portion. Just wanted to know how everyone else felt! Good luck!

I took the TEAS in January so I probably had the older format. It was still a bit challenging, but I scored OK.
I just submitted my Supplemental application and residency questionnaire. Now we have to wait another few weeks, I suppose. Does anyone know how many students applied this semester and how many they will admit? Also how long are we going to have to wait until we hear a response? I am super nervous.
Good luck everyone!!!
I don't know how many people applied this time. One of my friends applied and contacted the school, they told him that this was the lowest number of applicants yet. Which is great news for us. Although, I read a post on this thread, that this was the highest number of applicants. I don't know. I keep getting different information! its frustrating.
UTHSCSA gets so many emails and calls a day that I think they might get their information mixed up. I really want to call them, but I hate bothering them more than I already do. haha. I went to an open house, they said that they usually take 130-140 student depending on application pool. We are the fall semester so the number of applicants is higher, and usually more competitive with GPA/TEAS. UTHSCSA has spring break next week, so I don't think we will know till late march or early april! i'm nervous as well.

Hi y'all. I'm a current first semester student and was just browsing through. :)
For my semester we we told it was a substantial lower amount of applicants (300-ish) and 140 admission invitations were sent out, and there's now 127 of us undergrads. From what I've heard, since there were a lot less applicants for my semester, there were a lot more applicants for the Fall. (A lot of the issues came from the new application system; my semester was the guinea pig for it.)
Thank you so much for your info! Congrats on being accepted.
Do you remember how much the computers are from the school? I saw that we can either purchase a mac or a dell but they don't list prices. Just curious thats all.
Thank you & good luck to you all! I know the waiting game is a killer... It's worth it in the end though.
Yes, there's a choice between a 13" or 15" Macbook Pro, and a 14" or 15" Dell Latitude E6420. The 13" MBP was $1400-ish, the 15" MBP was $2100-ish. The 14" Dell was $1500-ish, and the 15" was $1600-ish. Most people went with the 13" MBP (I got the 15"... which I regret; "desks" are small. Lol.). It just boils down to your preference.
The benefit of it being required is that there's always on-call tech people there to help with any problems, and if your computer needs to be repaired, you get a loaner (the MBPs also come with 3-yr apple care, I'm not sure about the Dell's).
If you don't mind me asking, what was your TEAS score and GPA?
I think my pre-req GPA was around a 3.6-3.7-ish. I'm not sure because my SAC cumulative/degree GPAs are different and it doesn't include all of the classes. My TEAS score was kind of low though. I think it was a 80 or so total. (Sorry, it's so long ago I kind of forgot :/.)
The main thing that is weighted is the science GPA for your pre-reqs. Also, the information given on the supplemental app. They're looking for well-rounded persons that have the potential to succeed in the SoN.

Thank you for providing the helpful info! I am very excited, but still a bit worried about my TEAS score. I scored 70%, but my GPA is pretty competitive, a 3.86. I also have all A's in my science pre-reqs, except A&P2 lab. Just remaining hopeful that I had great responses in my supplemental app as well.
Yes, that would be helpful if you could provide us with tips for the first semester. Also, how is housing in the San Antonio area? Do they have reasonable priced apts close to campus. I'm currently in the Dallas location :/
