I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

She was the one who contacted the Admissions Committee to review my app again.
Good luck!
I did get a response and I was told that she has no idea why I wasn't accepted because my grades and scores were highly competitive. I was advised to reapply for summer.
Oh well. Obviously, this happened for a reason.
Good luck to the rest of you guys!!! This thread was extremely helpful. On to the Summer 2014 thread (if there is one)!
Ugh that is so frustrating! I'm so sorry I honestly think that it was something on their end. The entire process is hectic and disorganized and I had to hound them at least half a dozen times over to-do list items not being removed, inaccurate transcript evaluations, etc. My biggest fear was being denied over something not getting checked off or keyed in correctly.
Good luck to you for the summer semester! I'm sure you'll have no issue getting in :)
@pstewart, I have accepted my admissions at UTMB. But have chosen to remain on waiting list at UTH as I did want the pacesetter program and it is a lot closer. I am just getting all of my things ready for UTMB (vaccinations, CPR recertification and things like that). If I do get in at UTH, I will make a decision. But as it stands, UTMB is where I will start. I couldn't make up my mind on where I wanted to go when I applied, so UTMB being the only school that accepted me is the school I am leaning towards. Orientation is Jan 2nd or 3rd so I have until then to see if I'm pulled off of wait list for UTH. After then, I will email them to take me off of wait list bc spring semester starts right after that I believe.
To those on waiting list, good luck! I am glad I applied to more than one school, bc being on a wait list is almost as nerve wracking as waiting on a decision!
And for those wanting stats:
I have a 3.6 overall
3.8 science
91 or 92 on HESI- sorry it's been a while since I've taken it
900 on critical thinking.
And I scored low on my A&P portion as I had not taken A&P in 4 years (I have since retaken both, taken A&P II now- had to retake just for lab credit!)
And I will also say this, the info session I went to it was said that if you didn't have at least a 75 in each category on the HESI to not even apply. Well I had already applied and my A&P was less than 75 and I was put on waiting list, so apply anyways! My other scores were 92 and above in each section but A&P was low!
For those denied, do not give up! I've been working on getting into nursing school for a while now and an opportunity finally came! If nursing is your passion, stick with it. I have 6 years of medical field/hospital experience which I think is what helped me at UTMB. Don't think they looked at that at UTH.
Good luck to you all!
Has anybody on this forum still waiting on a decision (accepted, denied, or waitlisted)? Neither has my status changed nor have I received an email or mail. I live in the Dallas area so perhaps it might an extra day for that denial letter to come in the mail (who knows lol). For the most part, for those who got waitlisted did you receive an email first?
I am still waiting on a decision as well, I haven't received anything in the mail or by email and my status is still the same. One of my friends got waitlisted and she received an email first. It's driving me crazy that my status has stayed the same because I have no idea what to think :/
@aarticpatel : Same here. The waiting is driving me cuckoo bananas lol. I really just want a decision so I can have some closure and move on lol. What are you stats btw?
Here are my stats:
3.91 nursing gpa
3.75 science gpa
780 hesi
Hesi: 96 math, 90 reading, 86 vocabulary, 84 a&p, 84 grammar
Overall hesi: 88%
