UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

Hi, I have been reading all the posts on the forum but have never posted. I am sorry to the people that have been denied acceptance I can't imagine how disappointed you must be but I am one of the ones still anxiously waiting. I am confused as my understanding is that some people have already been waitlisted, but some still have a no change in their status. What does that mean for the people still waiting?

I see, thank you for clarifying! If it was overall, I would totally understand why I might be denied. But if she just mentioned science and prereq...well, not much to say except its tough competition!

Overall doesn't matter ever. They only look at pre-req and science GPA.

I understand that's what they've been saying about overall GPA this whole time, but I'm sure your overall GPA has some sort of bearing on the perception of your "overall academic achievement." So if you've finished your first degree with a less-than-stellar GPA, it would show in your "overall." Anywho, congrats to those who have been accepted as of late. And those who have been denied, I feel your pain, as I was also denied for Fall 2013. It would have been super helpful if I had found this site the first time around.

Just got an e-mail, I was put on the waitlist. I'm surprisingly excited about this news! I read where someone said there is 20 people on the waitlist??? They didn't give many details in their e-mail, just that they will contact us if vacancies open. Hoping to hear more soon.....

Did they also give you the instructions to get some of the requirements completed if you come off the wait list? Like the urinalysis background check? I would hope they gave you all the courtesy of that so your not thrown into a stressful time crunch to get all of it completed before class starts. And if they did not, maybe call them and ask about it? Just an idea.

I just got the waiting list e-mail too. I am going to stay positive, because this means I haven't been denied yet, and there is still a chance :) I just wish we knew what number we are on the list!

You're right, that is a good idea. They didn't give any further details in their e-mail besides the fact that they do not disclose the rank of the wait list. I'm wondering how long we will have to wait to hear anything more about whether we are being placed in the program or not. I guess it could be up until right before classes start??
