UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

I was also denied today :( I'll reapply for May 2014 and retake the HESI. As for the critical thinking section, how did y'all study for that?

Were you denied via email or just status change?

I still haven't heard anything... Just wish I knew, whether its good or bad! Anyone else out there who hasn't heard?

My status just changed

Also I had things added to my to do list and holds list while still being denied... Not sure what's going on with that

I still have a green circle.

I talked to a BSN counselor and she said the next incoming class will have 120 seats!

So perhaps there are more acceptances to go out?

For those that got declined, don’t give up! This school is well known for declining people with high stats! Those that got declined got really good stats too! One way or another you’ll get into nursing school!

I still have a green circle too. Hopefully they have a few more acceptances to send out!

Guess what guys!!!!!! I got accepted!!!! Yesterday, I emailed the Administrator Coordinator about my situation. She emailed me back this afternoon saying that she will have the Admissions Committee review my application again (since they had my wrong transcript evaluation). Like thirty minutes later, I received an acceptance email!!! I am so excited. :-)

For those who didn't read my previous posts, I received a rejection letter in the mail last Saturday..

I am sorry for those who didn't get in. I just want to tell you guys that don't give up! I even got my rejection letter two days ago, and I still didn't give up.. Good luck!!

Does anybody know when will they start contacting the wait listed people, and does anybody know how many applicant are on the waited-list. I just received notice yesterday saying tht my application is been put on the wait list.

I'm so sorry to those of you that have finally received replies and didn't get in :( It seems as if they're being a bit more selective than previous semesters, I'm not sure if that's just because it's the Spring, instead of Fall, or if it's just a new thing. When I went to the info session on Nov 7, Brandy (the SON recruiter) actually bluntly said that if you don't have at least a 3.5 GPA to not even apply. I was surprised because at the info session in August, they said 3.3 GPA to be competitive.

Please don't give up and please do try try again! Good luck to those of you who still have yet to hear anything. In previous threads, people were contacted up until the week before classes and offered spots that had freed up at the last minute. Keep your heads up future nurses! :)

did she mean 3.5 nursing prereq or overall coursework?
