I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!
@flower23... Thank you! I've been going back and forth on which was my top choice. UTMB is further away for me but the feeling I got when going to their campus was much friendlier than that of UTHSC. But UTHSC has some of the best stats. But looks like I'll be choosing UTMB by default! And I think I'll have a good chance succeeding their. And Yes, it was originally a green circle.
I am not sure of the stats of people who have been wait listed, but I would like to know!
We'll, I received my rejection letter yesterday. I debated on posting this on here but I thought it might give some of you an idea of where they are at. I'm not really surprised. I don't have a 4.0 and I think that's what they were looking for. Just FYI...I have a 3.2 overall GPA, 3.0 science GPA, 88 HESI overall with a 940 critical thinking. Oh and I also made an 80 on the A&P section of the HESI. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting!
Thanks for sharing! Did you apply for any other school? Don't get discouraged I've had friends apply 2 times and get rejected then get accepted! I guess ill share my story as well..
I applied for the spring 2013 semester and was accepted with a 3.2 GPA and really good hesi scores. I had my daughter in the middle of the fall 2012 semester and my grades suffered so I was forced to decline my acceptance. I reapplied for the fall 2013 and was rejected. Now I have a 3.0 both GPAS and have been wait listed. I'm hoping they are taking into consideration my previous acceptance and my grades before my last semester at UH.
Needing all the prayers and good vibes I can get!
I'm sorry arobbins! I hope that things will work out for you! I know it's sucks to work so hard and not make it, but things will work out if you keep working hard for them. At least that's what I hold on to.
Pstewart, can I ask what your HESI scores are? I have a 96 on the A&P section and a 900 on critical thinking, but I still haven't heard a peep from the school. Just trying to figure out where is stand.
I received a rejection letter yesterday. I am very shocked that I didn't get accepted. :-(
My science GPA = 4.0 (everything completed)
Nursing GPA = 3.84 (the only two Bs I made were U.S. history and state&local government)
-I am currently taking the developmental psychology.
HESI=89% (840 CT)
The thing is that there were a lot of errors in my transcript evaluation. I was able to get everything fixed at the end of October. I received an updated transcript evaluation like three days before I got my rejection letter.
I am definitely reapplying for the summer program. Should I retake the HESI exam? I feel like I have a strong GPA.. I am not sure what else I could do to improve my stats... Any advice? Thanks!

If you have time to study for the HESI and think you can improve, I would retake it. Overall I don't think the entrance HESI is overly complicated so you should be able to do better. Your GPA and Science GPA were better than mine. However, my HESI was better - Think it was a 92 - 93 overall something like that. Also my Critical Thinking score wasn't that impressive. What sections did you do poorly on? I would focus on those and if it was A&P it seems like that might be a deciding factor with UTH.
Reading comprehension: 96%
Grammar: 92%
Vocab: 76% (ugh!!!!:-()
A&P: 88%
Math: 94%
I did poorly on the vocabulary section, but I didn't think they emphasized that section as much as others.
I received the letter in the mail (postmarked on Nov 8th). My myuth status is still yellow triangle.
I just checked again, but my updated transcript was postmarked on Nov 7th (the day before I got my rejection letter!!) and my new nursing GPA is 3.89.

Im in the same situation as rplauche1, mine just changed to a yellow triangle after being a green circle. Anyone know how many waitlisted people have been accepted in the past? Or how many wait listed people there are usually? I hope its not too common.. :[ so stressful. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
