I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!
Hi I am in your same situation I got in to hbu and Uthsc and keep going back and forth what made you decide on hbu aside from the distance from your house. I am close to the med Ctr and money for tuition is one of the biggest things that worry me. According to hub they are giving me$15000 in scholarships but tuition per yr is like 26000 which is a lot plus I am 30 going on 31 and ut is a faster program. What should I do
Distance was definitely a factor, but the fact my scholarships pay for everything at HBU pretty much was a winner. In total I get four scholarships, plus my pell grant.
If you are only left with an 11,000 balance at HBU it still beats UT's 17,000 tuition IF you're not getting any scholarships. Also, the 15,000 in scholarships doesn't include all the extra scholarships they offer specifically for nurses at HBU. You may qualify for more. I am at HBU this semester and was accidentally forwarded an email intended for nursing students; it was about scholarships.
Both are great schools, so you won't hate yourself for whatever choice you make. Also, I really don't think you should base your decision on your age. I am 27 going on 28 and just proud to be where I'm at, you should be too!
If you go with HBU, we'll be in the same cohort, so we should totally meet up during orientation! :)
Another thing, Congrats!
Hey everyone. Ironically, I am sitting next to Conner Francis in class. He really don't know what the crap he is talking about. He never reads his emails and had failed to realize that all incoming classes will be in the Pacesetter Program. It is a new thing.
This is why I asked about the Pacesetter Program in the first place. I hope somebody in the program reading this will give us his or her opinion about it.
In your acceptance email, the email after the one saying to check your myUTH for your admission decision. If they are giving one to you it should say right after they congratulated you. That email for me was in my junk mail so perhaps some of you guys that are still waiting might wanna check there too. Hope this helps!
I wonder when they will send the acceptance package:inlove:
The previous years' Spring applicants on these forums started receiving letters/packets around November 15, so that's what I'm expecting.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the deadline for the first batch of applicants to accept or decline admittance. So I'm wishing everyone still waiting on a response lots of luck!!
For those that are not members of the FB group, we're going to all try to make it to the November 7th info session. I would love to meet everyone! :)

We have to attend some session on nov 7th ???i didnt know that !!!
No, it's just a regular information session for prospective students. There's a handful of us that are going to get updated information about the new pacesetter-only curriculum. The only mandatory thing coming up is orientation on December 17.

Hey Salamin!
Yes, I called the main number, and I got transferred to the admissions office. I suggest calling early in the morning!
