Hello everyone:D
I have seen various threads for previous applicants that applied to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I was not able to find a thread for UTHSC Fall 2016 applicants so I decided to start one. If a thread already exists, I am sorry. I will also be applying to TWU-Houston and UTMB. I know the process is stressful, so I will try to make it easier. I will be attending the May 22 info session at UT and the May 28 one at TWU. I will be sure to update any information discussed in the sessions for those who are not able to attend. If there are any previous applicants, or current and previous students, I would appreciate if you could join and share your experience in the school as well as your application process.
I look forward to talking to everyone who is going through this nursing journey.:)
I took my HESI at the start of November and had applied for Summer '16 and Fall '16...so I had my first application turned in the same night I took my test. Submitted the Fall application after I was finished with Fall '15 semester classes at the college I'm at right now (so I could get my final grades on the transcript). Maybe they didn't need an evaluation since all of my classes are on their transfer guide (wishful/hopeful thinking in my part lol)?
That is so strange! I got my bachelors in another state so most of my classes aren't on the transfer guide I emailed her back asking if that meant my transcripts haven't been reviewed at all. If I get a response, I'll be sure to let you know! Good luck! Hopefully this isn't bad news for us. Maybe they're just running behind.
Good luck to you too! I have an A.A in General Studies with Business pre-reqs (was going to go for a Business degree but changed mind) as well as extra sciences/maths I took as dual-credit classes in high school and now nursing pre-reqs under my belt (all taken through the same college here in TX). This is my last semester of nursing pre-reqs and I've talked to a counselor at my school to see what I can do if I don't get in anywhere (applied to UTH and WCJC)...they said I have nothing left to do. If I don't get in anywhere, I don't know what I'm going to do Guess I'll just have to keep reapplying if worst comes to worst.

Reapply! I know several people who got in to different nursing schools on their second or even third try!! Also look into talking the TEAS, that will broaden your options to apply for schools like TWU and UTMB. Wish you the best!
I've taken the TEAS twice over the past year for WCJC. I have a (going on) 2-yr old so I really don't have the option to apply to a lot of schools due to distance (UTH is already stretching it driving-wise, but the trade off for getting a BSN makes sense financially and time-wise). If I don't get in this cycle, I will have to apply to more ADN programs (like Victoria/Alvin/Brazosport/etc...I'm way down in Bay City) that are within a certain driving distance, as well as UTH again.
@cc2846 I received this email back from Kathryn this morning after asking her if my transcripts had not been reviewed at all:
I did an evaluation for you yesterday afternoon and we are still processing it to do to the school. Admission files are reviewed by the schools, not the Registrar's Office. Please contact the school directly for this information. Their e-mail address is [email protected].
I'm not completely sure what that means, but I think I'm going to stop worrying about it! In less than 2 weeks, I'll know either way!

I got the same response from Kathryn today. I agree-it gave me an uneasy feeling!! When did you complete your app (as in, when was all of your info turned in)? I took my HESI right before the deadline so they didn't receive my score until Jan 16. If they request evals on a first-come basis, I would most likely be at the bottom of the pile. I wondered if you're in the same boat? Maybe that would ease our nerves a little!
