Hi everyone, I just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON students who are applying for Summer 2017. I didn't see a thread created for this term yet. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin this long journey. Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

how do you set up your background check and drug test?

I followed the links from the pre-enrollment/new student page: New Students - Current Student - The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Nursing

hope this helps. It was about $50 for drug test and another $50 for criminal background check.

The background check and drug test are done by two different companies. The background check consists of you filling out a form online, so when you pay is when it's done. No fingerprinting to my knowledge.

As for the drug test, you'll pay online & then they'll send you an email saying when to come in. They choose the day, and you choose from a few different locations. I got an email around 9 AM on Monday, and I went to get the test done after I left work that same day. Just to give you an idea of how it works.

No, but I will be tomorrow! I have to go get my TB test read, and then I'll be finished with everything except getting an ID which I'll do at orientation.

I make the payment for the drug test yesterday, and have not received another email with appointment information. How long afterwards did you receive yours?

I submitted the payment last Thursday and received the email to come in Monday. I read on the FB page it could be The very next day or several days before you get the email because they try to make it random to ensure people don't prepare for the test.

Oh, I see that makes sense with a drug screening. But, I just wanna have most of my holds taken off before the admitted day.

I'm excited to meet as many people as I can!

Yeah I got email the next day for the drug test once I paid. If anyone having trouble with immunizations the ladies at the UT Student Health Clinic (6410 Fannin) are very helpful. I took all my records and she doubled checked everything and confirmed what I needed. I got everything done there and go back Friday for TB results. It is $35 for each titer there if you don't have insurance. They were very nice and helpful.

Same! I'm trying to get all of the holds removed ASAP. And I 100% understand your excitement lol. I'm so ready to get things started!

Also, is there a different thread or forum that everyone who eas accepted for summer 17 is on? I'm not on fb.

I wasn't on Facebook either but made one just to join the group and let me tell you it's the best for getting answers quick and getting to know who's in our class!!

If you can get the ID earlier than orientation, it would be better. You get the ID at the tower building, not the actual school. There will be alot of people trying to get their ID's after orientation.
