Anyone????? besides me waiting on that interview letter for nursing school to come already?????????????? :plsebeg: Have you completed all your pre-reqs? what cha got left? care to share your GPA?

I am in the works of completeing my last pre-req...Physiology sooo far its been my fav. class its better than anatomy. GPA 3.5 microbio and physio not inlcuded. (I wish I didn't suck at comp. 1 I got a C in that class you guys!)

I emailed Debbie (she's the head hancho of the program. They are very good at replying like a minute later to your emails :typing and also very good at answering all phone calls) I asked about how I should go about registering for the TEAS entrance exam...she said on the same day you do your interview you also take the TEAS exam!

WHAT??? :banghead: is what I thought to myself sooo...I basically have till the month of April to study for that sucker!

i know you are super busy, but i really appreciate the info!

get back to me when you can, no rush.

I will def. look into san antonio station!

thx again!

Oln2..If you are looking for an apartment..I know there is one called the promontory pointe. They are really nice and located right on medical drive..theres a website .. I don't know the name of it .. but you can google it the name..

ALSO ..I was wondering if anyone knew how to go about ordering the background check..I know how to go to the web site, but after I click make an appointment, I get lost! So if anyone can let me know the steps they took, let me know! :)

Also, AGAIN...does anyone know how to register for classes?? Do we do it at orentation or do we do it on our own? The paper says registration is from May 1st until sometime in August...

Let me know!! Thanks guys!

TrueBlonde2006:

thanks for your input :-)

I did drive by and check out all the apts on medical drive...promontory pointe was one of them. I LOVED it, but when i got back home and looked on

apartmentratings.com they didnt have any good reviews! (thefts, vandalism, and excessive noise)

Sorry I cant give you any input on your questions regarding how to register or the background check..but if i hear anything i will def. let you all know.

but since i live so far away i'm always the last to know...i just rcvd my letter last thursday for goodness sake! :-D

They are currently revising the TEAS exam. I don't think the newest version will be available until October 2009 though. The new exam will focus more on math and science. Go to atitesting.com and I recommend getting the study guide and online assessments offered by them.

Yea...I figure thats not something you want to live with ... LOL..Umm..have you tried looking at the surrounding areas of medical drive like on fredicksburg rd, babcock rd, and wurzbach rd. I know when I was in the area I saw some nice ones on fredicksburg rd. I think that all around san antonio there is break ins and stuff like that..Like I was shocked because the friend I am moving in with got her car broken into in her garage..and her neighbors are cops, firefighters, and doctors...and her neighbor is like the good side too..So IDK..I know that I am just going to get a car alarm on my car so if anyone touches it its going to scare the stuff out of them ..LOL..What part of virginia are you from?

Those of you that applied for UIW also and had to do a background check, are ya'll going to do it again for UTHSCSA since it is the same background check?

THANKS!

I'm not doing the background check again... I talked to UTHSCSA and to someone at the Board of Nursing, and they said I just have to send a letter to notify the BON of my change of schools. I have my postcard that the BON sent saying that my check was clear, so I just took that to UTHSCSA and they made a copy. It sounds like all that matters is that the school has confirmation that the background check was clear. Hope that helps!

Really..I went to UTHSCSA and they didn't make a copy of my card and told me to call the BON, but when I did the BON says it shouldn't matter where I got my background check from because it didn't specify what school it was for..so thats why I was wondering. And then when I called yesterday they told me I needed to redo my background check, and then someone else told me not to. So I don't know what to do..Who did you talk to at the school?

Well, I kind of went through the same process as you did. The first time I went to the school they said call the BON, so they could send something to the school, but the lady at the BON said the only thing they send is the postcard, to the student, which I had. So I went back to UTHSCSA and told them what I'd found out, and only then did they make a copy. The person I talked to was Debbie Koehne, the undergraduate nursing academic coordinator.

Seems like this shouldn't be so complicated, since there's probably lots of people who apply to UIW as well!

I know! And it makes me mad because I'm scared this is something that is going to hold me back from being able to register because no one knows what to tell us. So how are you going to send the BON a letter to let them know you are switching programs? Who are you making the "attention" for ? And how do you know that they will get it and change it? Thanks for your help! Its all confusing to me..I wonder if it would hurt if I just got the background done again to ease all the confusion...

Yeah, I'm worried about it too. I really don't want to have to pay another $45 to get it done again, though. And we shouldn't have to, since the background check isn't any different from school to school!

I wrote my letter to the BON today - I just looked up the address on the website, and addressed it to "To whom it may concern". I think I'll call in a couple of days and try to find out if they got it and make sure everything's fine. Also, I guess we can let UTHSCSA know that we notified the BON, since that's what they had said to do.

Good luck!

Yea..I guess..I don't know.. I emailed the associate dean (yarsrough) and she emailed me back saying that the best of contacting the BON is by email..and she also said that we have to tell them to send the results to UTHSCSA. And I also called the Undergraduate Office again, and this time one of the ladies went to go find out from others and she said that the BON should sent it to them no matter what because something about how the school sends in a list of students..I don't know..but its really confusing...Let me know what happens with your way!

Thanks
