UTHSC Houston - Summer 2016 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone!

I couldn't find a thread for Summer 2016 that was active so I'm starting one here! I am also an applicant for Fall 2016 but I'm applying for both because the deadlines are close and I really want to go here!!

So far I'm taking courses over the summer right now and going to finish my prerequisites this fall. I JUST finished the HESI exam today!!! Hope to hear from all of you soon

Not sure about Fall 2016 but the deadline for Summer 2016 is December 2015.

Deadline for Summer 2016 is December 1, 2015

Fall deadline is Jan. 15, 2016

Question anyone:

What is considered an elective? I see they require an elective 5 credits.

Would Spanish be considered and elective?

Would Spanish be considered and elective?

Yes, they are very flexible with their electives. Spanish would be one. As long as it's a college level course (no remedials and no "workforce" courses you should be fine). I'm using speech as one of my electives.

Oh. And also no physical education courses! Almost forgot that one. ☺️

Did you take College Algebra to take Statistics? If so, algebra can be used as an elective. Also if you plan on applying to UTMB, you need to take pathophysiology and that would also be an elective for UTHSC

Does anyone know or has heard was the lowest cumulative GPA they have accepted into this program?

Oh okay thanks I took Algebra but got a C in it.

Hopefully they can take 2 Spanish courses being that they require 5 credits for it.

Hey everyone!

Okay so quick question, not sure if anyone else has ran into this issue.

I'm applying for Summer 2016, and plan to take my HESI in October/November. I am trying to register through Elsevier using the department code off of the UTH website (198326). When I enter that, there is no exam option for the HESI A2 - V1 with CT (I am assuming that is Critical Thinking - which is required for UTH) for the dates after 9/30/15. The only option for the A2 V1 after 9/30/15 does not say "with CT" and those dates are 10/1/15 - 12/31/15. Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have any advice to get registered for the correct exam?

Thanks, and good luck to everyone applying!

I didn't have any issues. Just make sure that you do pick the exam with CT, which is Critical Thinking. What some people have done is taken the HESI with another school code and then have it sent to UT. Sometimes they run out of slots, and you have to pick from what they have, that's what happened to my friend and she had to take hers sooner than she wanted to.

oh okay, makes sense. It's strange that the options change from day to day though. Do you happen to know of another school or department code that offers the test with critical thinking? Having a hard time finding any slot at all after September with CT section, and I'm definitely not ready to take it next week.

I'm not sure since I took it through UTHSC, but I've seen others on these threads that have mentioned taking it elsewhere and then having their scores sent. Try calling the Elsevier customer service, maybe they can help. Good luck!

Thanks for your help! Turns out it was actually a system error for why no dates were being shown for the correct test, so its fixed now - thank goodness! :)
