UTHSC Houston - Summer 2016 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone!

I couldn't find a thread for Summer 2016 that was active so I'm starting one here! I am also an applicant for Fall 2016 but I'm applying for both because the deadlines are close and I really want to go here!!

So far I'm taking courses over the summer right now and going to finish my prerequisites this fall. I JUST finished the HESI exam today!!! Hope to hear from all of you soon

you will then need to go to elsevier's website and pay $15 to have your transcript sent to UTHSC.

Hi everyone! I recently applied for UTHSC summer 2016 BSN program. I have completed 42 hours already, and currently I am taking 13 hours and will finish the rest of the prerequisites in the spring. On my myUTH account it shows that my transcript is still on my to do list; however, I already sent in my transcript. I know they have received it because the other item on the to do list (it was something related to meeting the requirements for college- I can't remember the specific name) is complete after I sent in my transcripts. On the application I indicated that I will have an AS degree, but this will not be until the spring. I contacted the registrars office today and the lady answering the phone said that there's nothing else for me to do because it will say pending until all of my classes are complete for the AS degree. Does anyone else know if this is correct?

I ask because I still feel confused after the phone call. I wasn't able to form my question correctly while on the phone, so I am not sure if she understood what I was asking.

Hi everyone,

I'm applying for the summer and fall semester. I have 40 out of the 60 completed pre-reqs. I have a 3.8 GPA and my cumulative HESI score is a 91. I don't know if my stats are good enough lol. Good luck to everyone!

It will be fine. It's most likely because you put you have an AS degree. The application thinks in the present, not the future so even though you'll have one when you attend UTHSC, you don't have one now. I'm about where you right now, 42 hours finished, i'm taking 13 right now and will finish the rest in the spring. I will graduate with an AS in the spring, but didnt put I have one yet on the application and my application with UTHSC says complete.

Thanks! I actually spoke with the registrars office just a little while ago and it is suppose to stay that way until I graduate.

Hello everyone,

I am applying to UTHSC-H for the summer of 2016. I took my HESI a2 at HBU on 10/24 so I have to have the transcript sent over to UTHSC-H. I scored a 93.6% overall.

My pre-req science GPA is 4.0

Pre-requisite non-science GPA is 3.92

HESI a2 results:

Math = 98%

(1) Reading Comprehension 92.00%

(2) Meaning-Word Use 100.00%

(3) Conclusions 89.00%

(4) Implications 86.00%

(5) Understanding 94.00%

(6) Grammar 96.00%

(7) Vocabulary & General Knowledge 94.00%

English language = 94%

A & P = 88%

Critical thinking = 890

I hope that these scores are "in the running". I've very nervous. When will we found out for sure? February or March?

I wish all of the rest of you good luck in your application. I'm also applying to TWU but I prefer UTHSC-H over TWU. I will take the TEAS V the day before New Year's eve!

I'm taking my TEAS on the same day, most likely the same testing center as you. My scores are pretty similar to yours. I made a 95.33% overall and a 980 on critical thinking for the Hesi. I have 4.0 science GPA and a 4.0 pre-req GPA.

Wow, those are awesome grades & scores! It seems to me you are a shoe in but I hear entry into this program is hard to predict. Some people get in with scores and grades like ours and some others do not and even more get in with lower grades and scores; so I think must be a lottery, that is, if you make above some pre-set standard then from there they pick applicants at random. Maybe that is a way to create more heterogeneity among members of the group rather than using a point system. I admit I don't know how else to explain it.

I am am taking my TEAS V on 12/30 @ 2pm at PCI on Northwest freeway @ Brookhollow next to the Sheraton. I will be studying over the Christmas holiday.

It's extremely hard to predict. I'm thinking it might be based on a lottery system or maybe even demographics to gain a diverse student population. I'm taking mine at West Houston Testing Center.

How long does it typically take for elsevier to send the hesi scores to uthsc?

I think around 2 weeks. I had scores sent about 2 weeks ago but I screwed up...instead of having them sent to the P.O. Box I had them sent to 6901 Bertner, the physical address of the school of nursing. The registrar's office, who needs the scores, is NOT located at that address. Anyhow, I called the registrar Friday and told him about it. He said he could log into Elsevier and see the scores; however I am not sure if that actually has happened or not so I am going to call back today and re-confirm. If not, I will have to order them again! That is what I get for not being more proactive and making certain I have the right address for these.

Hello everyone!! I just submitted my application for the summer 2016 term. I was rejected for the Spring 2016 class. My Nursing GPA is 3.93, Science GPA is 4.0 and I got a 91 on my HESI.... Hopefully after one more semester with a 4.0 GPA I can meet their standards. I am not sure how they choose people to get accepted because many people who got in had much lower GPA and HESI than I do... Good luck to everyone!
