UTHSC Houston - Summer 2016 Applicants

Does anyone know what size the application pool is? Also, how many are accepted during the summer.

That's a great question, but I know there are many. I would say in the hundreds. I think around 140 are admitted. I talk to the admissions people today, and she said that people who have high enough pre-requisite GPA such above a 3.6 or 3.7 and have HESI scores that are 90% and above go to the review committee for admission decisions. Very competitive!

Has anyone received a complete transcript evaluation for the Summer 2016 application pool? I applied in fall and there were multiple mistakes on my transcript evaluation. I've been working with UT back and forth and some mistakes are corrected but others (that they agreed to correct) have not been fixed. I finally got someone on the phone and she said transcript evals for summer are in process and to just be patient. I'm concerned because the mistakes in the fall led to my application not even being considered. How long would you wait? When would you call again? Thoughts?

I received an evaluation just before Thanksiving week. I am applying to the summer 2016 admission. I had two "not OK" on my evaluation but they were cleared up. I talked with Kathryn in admissions as well as Mr. Jenkins, the registrar, to clear them up. The not okays were cleared up just last week. I would wait until the start of January to follow up. Make sure admissions knows everything is clear. Apparently the admissions people write a note on your documentation that states this. That is what I was told. As long as all your documentation is complete, you should be ok for next Fall.

I haven't gotten a transcript evaluation, but then again I didn't get my application/transcripts turned in until the middle of last month for Summer 2016 term. Do they automatically send you one or do you have to request one?

i am applying for the summer. i graduated with a degree in history in 2011 and have been in med school.

this semester i had to go back to undergrad and i just finished A&P, sociology, philosophy, development, and nutrition yesterday and requested my transcripts be sent

i havent heard a thing from UT houston at all - what is this about a transcript evaluation?

im really worried i won't get in bc i used to be a med student. my gpa is 3.5 overall, 3.9ish in the prereqs, and my hesi was a 94.

Bearfur, were you at the USA testing center today for the TEAS? I remember you said you were taking it there today. I was there too. How did you do?

kktegan, no I took my TEAS at PCI. I did pretty well. I got a 92% overall. (86% reading, 97% math, 96% science, and 93% English). Testing environment there was terrible - the 2 "proctors" were loud! How did you do?

CONGRATS! I made a 90%. I did good considering I had no time to study. The testing environment was good, but their wasn't much direction as far as the proctors. I felt like the TEAS was harder than the HESI which I made a 95% on. Oh well. I fell like a 90% is still a pretty competitive score.

Yes, most definitely a competitive score. I hear anything mid-80's is good. I agree that the TEAS was tougher than the HESI. I made a 94 on the HESI so I am right behind you on that one. I guess all there is to do now is wait. My applications are complete now both at TWU at UTHSC_H. Judging by last year's posts here, we should know something about UT at the end of February/beginning of March & TWU around mid-March. Good luck!

Failedmedschool,

the summer deadline is 12/01. Did you have all transcripts in by then? It may not matter but that's probably why you did not get a transcript evaluation

When I spoke to someone in the registrar's office, they said as along as your application is in by the deadline and all your transcripts are received by when they start making decisions, you're fine.
