Hi,
I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.
Thanks for your comments
I have applied to the Accelerated BSN May start program as well. Waiting game for us starts now.... After watching all the post for those who applied for the Spring Semester we might start finding out acceptance in March! They had until mid-Nov and started finding out in Oct. We shall see... Let the fun times begin!!
Is anyone else reapplying for the Fall 2013 who was waitlisted for Spring 2013? What is the process? I'm assuming we dont have to resend old transcripts, but I am sure we have to submit another application.
I called UT (I'm wait listed too) and they told me to just reapply for fall semester before Jan. 15 and no need to resend transcripts.
I think you are good, but it is really hard to tell what they are looking for. There have been people on here who said they have a 4.0 GPA and did not get accepted... Just do well on the Hesi like kekebrwn and I think you should be fine. They said at the info session that they understand that not everyone will do well in all of their classes, but that shouldn't hurt you as long as you meet/exceed minimum requirements.

Honestly, I would say you have good stats for TWU. They look at some different things (see the TWU forums), but my stats were similar to yours and I was accepted this semester (wait-listed @ UT). And having a previous bac degree will give you a slight boost at TWU.
As far as the TEAS goes, I didn't think it was a LOT harder, but I did score lower. My HESI was in the mid 90's, but my TEAS was in the mid 80's. On the other hand, I explicitly remember being in the 95th percentile nationwide for TEAS - so go figure. I took the two exams within a week or ten days of each other, and did little to prepare for them. So I wouldn't worry too much, with your stats, you can definitely get in somewhere.
