Hi,
I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.
Thanks for your comments
Yes, it would most put me behind if I split my course load into two semesters. I thought about it and I probably will take the 16 credits this fall. I'll schedule my HESI here soon as well. What books did you purchase on amazon? I recently bought the kaplan study guide, it looks pretty good although I have yet to actually sit down and start working through the problems. Once my stat class is over, I'll be able to dedicated 100% of myself and might I add, that you are doing good job! keep up the good work!! :yelclap:
Miss Texas I think you should be fine taking the English philosophy government and micro, I know exactly how you feel I could have taken this summer off and applied in fall 2013 but I didn't want to so I've taken chemistry, micro, speech online, and music online as well as taking my hesi exam in the middleOf all that, my only advice I can give is make sure to get the hesi evolve book and pace yourself into studying it a little everyday, I made the mistake of waiting the night before because I was so worried about the classes I was taking, which for not studying I think I did okay but if I would have study a little bit everyday I know I could have done better but that's why I'm retaking it in August, also I'd recommend looking over triage questions the crtitical thinking was heavy in triage questions!
No as far as I'm aware the critical thinking can also be retaken, and as far as biology, chemistry, physics just disregard those sections unless your applying to another school which requires them. I just completely skipped them but when I take it again I'm going to answer the biology portion because San jac is the other school I'm applying for and they require that section. Did you do well on it the first time?
the books from amazon are the one the school reccomends "hesi evolve" and the 2nd is a nurses book on critical thinking...[color=#004b91]applying nursing process: a tool for critical thinking . i haven't purchased them yet, ive been busy with work. but i will probably have them sometime early next week to start reviewing. & thank you :)

I was just curious if anyone knew if they might have a little consideration for dual credit students. When I was still in high school I had taken english 1 and 2 history 1and 2 government 1 and 2 as well as college algebra, which was great but at the time didn't realize the importance of an A and had gotten all Bs in those classes bringing my gpa down. Since starting college after high school I've made almost all As and As in all of my science classes.Leaving my stats as followsoverall gpa at 3.5Pre-req gpa: 3.6 Science gpa 4.0My current overall hesi score is overall 87% and a critical thinking score of 860 which I'll be retaking in August hopefully to be boosting my scores. I noticed people already in the program have been posting on the website and I was just curious if anyone in their class they know of got in with that low of stats! It just freaks me out I just graduated high school last year as well in 2011 and have taken heavy course loads to allow me to get in to a program as soon as I can, I guess I'm just feeling rather discourages seeing everyone's 3.9 and 4.0 gpas just wondering If I even have a chance.I also work as a nurse tech in a hospital in the area in the newborn nursery, nicu, and postpartum doYou they look at anything like that to consider applicants?
