This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
I just read everyone's posts about their changes on their holds. I have a "S" last name, and I haven't had any changes...I feel like I should just lose hope on being admitted now lol...
Still no word. I'm petty much convinced I'm not going to get any good news. To be honest I'm sick of the up and down rollercoaster! I want this soooooo bad but I'm at the point now where I don't even want to check utlink again. I could get accepted and never know because I have such fear of rejection. HAHA.
I'm sure I'll check it again.
I would love to know what their definition of a whole picture is though. Iin the info session that I went to they said "we don't care who you worked for, we don't want your recommendation letters, and we know you've screwed up in the past: just send us your grades, that is all we want" So if that is true it should be all the top scorers. But it isn't. I'm confused.
Today while running errands every singe UT shirt or orange anything, or longshorn something was mocking me! LOL! I swear it!
I'll be a UT grad someday... maybe not May2013, but maybe Dec. 2013?

All of you DESERVE to be admitted in my opinion. Based on the hard work, grades and heart that I've seen from all of you on this forum, I know that you WILL be nurses one day.
Take a deep breath, get away from the computer until Monday afternoon. We will still be here for you.
Hey everyone! Do yourselves a big favor and don't give up until it is all said and done. UT had 850 applicants, and (as we know) a very lengthy acceptance process. It is only natural that they wouldn't accept everyone in one day. Most of us sat around reading other people's posts about acceptance with the same fear of rejection. I was freaking out that retaking the HESI twice was the end for me! lol anyway, keep your chins up!
Also remember, that in the event that you don't get in for some reason (though I think you will) if you want to be a nurse, and you are meant to be a nurse, then you will be one way or the other, like katybusymom said! You've worked hard just like the rest of us, so just keep up the good work!
thanks for all the positive thoughts everyone. I'm honestly afraid to look again because it just starts the day off with negative feelings of rejection.
I'm so excited for everyone though and I hope everyone on here keeps in touch anyway, so that those of us who don't get in can get advice on what to expect for later :) We will all be nurses!!!!!!!!

@alm625, don't worry. Nothing for me yet either. I'm confused as well. I know my overall GPA wasn't even close to decent b/c of past mistakes, but my science & prereq weren't awful...actually higher than some I've seen get accepted, and my HESI was 94%. No matter what happens, I will get to UT! Maybe we'll be Fall admits together!
So seriously does this mean that since I have a 4.0, I'm more likely not to get accepted or something??? I'm seriously so confused about all of this and I've been so frustrated with everything lately. It's been a dream of mine to go to this school, and I've tried so hard over the past two years to get perfect grades, because I knew if I applied to UT with a perfect resume, there should be no way I'm not getting in. Maybe my HESI score isn't high enough too, I don't know :/ Congragulations to everyone else that's been accepted so far, I hope you all do well in the program.
Sorry guys, I'm not trying to be so negative :/ it's just really getting to me and I've wanted to go to THIS school ever since I've wanted to become a nurse, and I've worked seriously so hard at making myself look decent all for the effort of going to THIS school. I know everyone else has been trying that too, and I hope we all get in eventually :)
@texas, I do not believe that they are finished updating the links. I would give it a few more days. They were still updating on saturday. I'm not sure but I believe they are only half way through the admissions process. Good luck.
I'm in the same boat and WILL NOT give up till the fat lady sings...which should be 11/15 or so...lol!!!so let hang in there!! Thanks everyone for thier support!!
