This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Well I just got a repsonse to my email and it was pretty much the same... "... acceptance and denial letters will go out on the 15th." It didn't say anything about utlink status change though I still don't understand those competitive numbers. I feel like a million people have higher than a 3.0 and 80 HESI.
@katy - I don't have a clue which one I would rather attend. I'm taking a lot of things into account. I am going to try and bug them about my pharmacology class to see if I can convince one of them to take it. I woud've taken patho since it transfers, but my school doesn't offer it in the fall. blehh. That might be the deal breaker. TWU will allow me to stay in PTK, but UT has campus housing (though I have to apply for that, so there's no guarantee).. @_@ I am going to have to make someone decide for me...... lol
hey which school are u getting into? I got accepted to TWU n PV and waiting on UTh to reply. I'm looking a future class-mate... hopefully we will go to the same school.

@saraiish costs of both schools is roughly the same (like $1000 difference), so I'm not worried about that too much.
Rant: I don't get an ounce of financial aid because my parents supposedly make too much (but my dad could barely afford community college for me out of his retirement fund that is now nonexistent), so one way or the other I have to take out a loan. I am really frustrated with the way the financial aid is set up, because they don't take into account that my family has had to fork out over $40,000 in medical bills the past few years for my dad's cancer and other procedures he's needed to stay alive. My EFC is really high (some number we can't even come close to having). Then what really gets me is now all scholarships are starting to be based on need, too, instead of just academics. It burns me up I could honestly start a thread for this alone. So, I will be paying my entire tuition myself out of pocket, but because I'm a dependent it's based off my parent's income. Ridiculous. Except that I'm getting married in August of 2012, so maybe that will change things. Anyway, I'm ok. lol :)

@chunky_munkey I haven't decided yet! lol I'm gonna wait until I hear from UT. I don't have a first choice, because I'm taking a lot of things into account. Honestly, I like that UT has housing, so that puts them way up imo. So no, no extra spot yet. I don't even know if I have a spot to begin with! lol

Well, I just got my acceptance letter for TWU. I suppose I am going to confirm and just wait on UT anyway....
