This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
I emailed the nursing admissions yesterday about if they were going to update the UTlink before we receive our (hopefully) admission letter thru snail-mail. She said no. She said everyone will be notified through regular mail at the same time.
They haven't done it that way before...I wonder why this time!!!! So we will have to wait until what, the second week of November for our letter?!!!!! I am going to keep checking the link just in case.
well that officially sucks. i wonder why they are doing that.... I was already having a hard enough time refraining from checking UTlink every 15 seconds, but now we can only rely on the mail! That only comes once a day!!
I reeeeeally hope that they send out the letters before the first week in nov. I'm gonna pull all my hair out before then :/ lol
thats just ridiculous, why change that system? mail takes forever, nov 15th? how much time does that give us to get ready for nursing school. are they trying to make it an early christmas present?
I really believe we won't be waiting until Nov 15 for acceptance letters. For Spring 2010, they were told the same thing (on Nov 2, 2009):
i emailed UTHSC today to find out when we will get our admissions decisions since some of us have been accepted to different schools and need to accept or decline the offer before November 15th. this is what i got back:
Hi,
Unfortunately, we have not made a decision yet. Letters will go out by the end of next week or sooner.

By Nov 4, 2009 (2 DAYS LATER), their statuses were being updated on UTLink.
For Spring 2011, they were also told:
I also called the school and were told that they'll notify applicants after November 15,
And they started finding out via UTLink on Nov 1, 2010.
Point is, I think the admission folks just tell us the Nov. 15 date because they don't want to be bothered with answering all the questions. Even if people are finding out via UTLink sooner, they won't admit it.
I'm positive we'll find out sooner than Nov. 15. Let's just wait and see

I received a transcript evaluation before my interview, but did not receive one after my interview. I have one outstanding course (Art History).

And several hours later on the same day:
WOWZA!!! My UT LINK CHANGED!
"You have been granted provisional admission. Admission letter in the mail." I"m shaking!!!!
I'm assuming she was checking periodically throughout the day. So they updated UTLink in the afternoon. So even if you wake up in the morning and nothing has changed, it may be changed later in the day. Admissions only updates the site every 24 hours, but doesn't mean it's in the am.

So I wouldnt rely on the UTLink to change first.
