This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
It varied quite a bit. The first time I sent transcripts in, it took maybe a month or so. The next time was a little bit faster I think... maybe 3 weeks.
Somebody told me that if you have all the prereq courses completed, they won't send you a transcript eval (only if you're missing classes). I can't say that's for sure... I just remember somebody telling me this.
Hello Everyone, I'm new to this website. I already applied to the Generic BSN program at UT-Houston. However, I am very nervous!
I made an overall HESI cumulative score of 84.9%.
Grammer-86
Reading Comprehension-84
Vocabulary and General Knowledge-82
A&P-80
Math-92
Critical Thinking-790
These scores are quite disappointing compared to competitive scores that I have seen. I was notified last minute that I could transfer next Spring '12 so I only had a total of one month to study and take the HESI by September 1st. At least I passed each section, right.
Anyways, my GPA's are not great, but just okay. My nursing prereq is 3.6, science prereq is 3.0 (not including Microbiology, yet), and undergrad prereq is 3.4; I was told that nursing schools also look at the number of drops, withdraws, and retakes in classes. My transcript is clean in that aspect. I never withdrew or dropped any course whatsoever and I had only retaken one class, which was English 1 and got an A. I know I meet the minimum requirements, but I am VERYYYY worried since my scores aren't that competitive compared to other scores that I have seen. What do you all think?
Thanks!
I think everyone here has a good enough chance to get into the program. Yes, some people have scores that are impressive and very intimidating, but realize that there is a whole other spectrum of people trying to apply. Not everyone is going to have perfect scores, that's what makes us all unique.
Thanks for your reply @CHUNKY MUNKY:) The possibilities are endless and we just need to have some hope. I was feeling very concerned since the applicants who were not chosen for the Accelerated program would automatically get admitted into the Generic BSN program. That would leave even more limited spots (like 80?) into the Generic BSN program for people, like me, who applied for the regular BSN.

The applicants to the ACC program that are denied acceptance into their accelerated program are not automatically admitted into the Traditional BSN Program. Their applications will be automatically CONSIDERED for admission. That means that they are still competing against us.
This is starting to sound even more intense the more we find out. D: I agree with @chunkey_munkey that we all have a good shot, but until official acceptance, I feel like anything can happen. If the school has diversity quotas, that makes even less spots per individual. Factor in accelerated vs traditional competition... man. @_@ nervous.
Anyone else checking UT Link compulsively?
Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and have recently applied to UT Houston for the Spring 2012 program. Here are my stats:
Science GPA: 4.0
Nursing Prereqs: 3.6
Overall: 3.55
Hesi A2 V1-
Math:98%
Reading:93%
Grammar: 94%
Vocab: 96%
A&P: 92%
Critical Thinking: 750
I'm disappointed with my critical thinking score. Despite my lack of any medical experience, I really thought I would've been able to rationalize the exam situations better. 75% meets the minimum requirement for entry, but it certainly does not ensure my acceptance... On a brighter note, good luck to everyone and I hope we all get in!!

I have gotten 3 transcript evals. I think every time you send a transcript in they usually send you an updated eval. It takes a long time to get it though...
