UTHSC (Houston) Spring

Published

This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)

I'm applying with the following stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.21

Science GPA: 3.66

Overall GPA: 2.81

I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Good luck to everyone!!

Hello, does anyone know if it is possible to transfer the 1st year of (BSN) from one school to UT Houston. I have not been accepted for the Spring 2012 , but I have been accepted at one school in Wichita Falls (Midwestern State University School of Nursing) about 6hrs away from home. So i was wondering if i could start out there and apply again for the next spring session.

On the other hand can anyone give me their opinion on this: the school wer u take your nursing program at does matter for future job position, if the school is not well known chances are you'd get less looked at by employers, is it true? Thank you

As long as the pharm or patho class is an upper level class, UT will accept them as transfer credit. Also keep in mind the school doesn't really matter in the end, what matters is your license. GPA and who you know will be the only factors deciding where you can go once you graduate, but baby steps first!

Specializes in ICU.

Has anyone else been accepted or denied?

Hey guys! I have a quick question about the CT portion of the HESI. I purchased the Fundamentals Success book because I read that it helped people prepare for that portion of the test, but could someone please tell me what part or chapters of the book helped them? Thanks so much. Any help is greatly appreciated!! :-)

On our score report of the HESI, is it suppose to show our CT score? I can't see mine and I'm starting to worry. Also, how did yall know if UTHSC has received our scores?

Yes, you can see your CT scores online at the Evolve Elsevier website. Your UTLink will show they received scores, be patient because they take awhile to post.

Guys, whats our facebook page again? i finally created an account lol

@katybusymum, please do you have any idea about where the clinical sites for the uthsc are and also how the average day in school goes.

you see, i live in sugarland with 3 kids so i would prefer a school that the clinical sites are not so far away from the med. center

Hi,

I would love to get those study material and please tell me how you got 97.6%. I got 84%, but the school of nursing at uthsc just told me that they look at the individual scores, not overall. I scored high on math, but scored low on vocabulary and critical thinking due to shortage of time. I made B on everything else. I want to retake the test so i can get my chances higher of getting into ut nursing program..Please help me and let me know what kind of information you need for the shipment. Thanks a lot

I just wanted to clarify to everyone now that I'm in the program in case anyone gets back on and reads this forum..

1. There was no race card (or gender card) for acceptance. There are Hispanics (my roommate), African Americans, Asians, etc and a handful of males. There are even people that don't speak the best English and still have strong accents as if they are new to the US.

2. There was no age card. My roommate is 21, and I am 20. We have met a few people in our class the same age as us. We're both single with no kids.

3. There are people from community college, universities, single mothers, married people, and people from plenty of different religions.

It is definitely a diverse class, so don't be fooled, especially any current applicants freaking that you may not get in based on something silly.

I really and truly think that they had the stack and accepted people as they came to them as opposed to any organization. That is logical to me.

Anyway, good luck to everyone in their future endeavors!

what do you mean by accepted people as they came to them?

I think they took their stack of applications, and rather than organize them by score, just simply picked the first 80 they came to that met the criteria they were looking for. IE, if the first person they came to was 88% on HESI and 3.5 gpa, and they liked that, they picked them, so some 4.0s at the bottom of the stack wouldn't have even had their apps reviewed. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.
