UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

Ha, I was fretting over not having an email since I had been accepted since last Friday, and it turns out it was in my spam folder. According to Gmail, many people have marked messages similar to this one as spam. O_o

I am with ya vintagepeony, you are not the only confused and frustrated person out there still waiting to hear some good news. Both my prereq and science GPAs were just under 3.7, my HESI was 97% and my critical thinking was 830. I also have a degree in Biology from texas A&M and, oh yeah, I have worked for UT for almost 10 years! That 10 years of experience is in research and I wanted to get into research nursing...of course if they still did interviews they would have found that out, but without interviews you are just a set of numbers and like you said, if your numbers are great and it doesn't get you in then what more can you do? I also have no holds, yellow triangle, and no emails. Maybe those of us that haven't found out anything are wait-listed and they are waiting to see who accepts and if they have any spots that open up.

Same here! I have a Gmail account and my acceptance email was in the spam folder! The email still doesn't say which track though!

Grats to everyone accepted. Bah! Still no word for me either. Prereq GPA: 3.9 Science: 4.0 Hesi: 95% and CT: 880

My grades are top.. What's a girl to do?

knguyen9740, have you received an acceptance letter or green check yet? I have similar scores and still have a yellow triangle and no acceptance letter yet.

apply to med or PA school.

encephalon7, I am in your boat girl! I feel the exact same way.

candeeeeeeXD, no I haven't. I don't even have any holds. I'm kind of shocked right now because I thought my grades would definitely put me in. hopefully we'll know more later this week.

Noooo. Too much school, too much money. Time and money are serious issues for a broke college student like myself.

I got into HCC's nursing program for Fall* 2012* which has a less stringent application process and is about 1/4th the cost. I shan't despair. I had the opportunity last semester to attend UTH, but I turned it down for dreams of travelling around India that never came to fruition.

I figure if I attend HCC, it costs ~$4000 then I could do the online RN-BSN bridge at UTMB (roughly another $4000) that still saves me a cool 8 grand that I wouldn't have had going to UTHSC. In this way, I can rationalize my disappointment over rejection and move on to a more positive mental state.

Not going to lie, I'm mad jelly over everyone who got in, but I'm proud of you guys. You earned it :w00t:

Hi Guys,

You might remember me from the Spring 2012 thread. I'm here to tell you, KEEP THE FAITH!!! All of you have wonderful stats.

We are switching over to a new computer system (from UTLINK to MyUTH) and it's a nightmare for the registars office. They keep taking it offline to fix glitches, but.........

So, in the meantime you can be thankful for the wonderful support system you have here with all of your AN buddies (soon to be UT buddies:).

Hi guys! I too think that it is too early for us to give up hope. I think that we should give them a while to get things sorted out. (I am writing with a blazing headache so forgive me if I don't make much sense.) Let's just wait. I know that we are all soo tired of waiting, but it seems to be our lot. Chin up and have patience (I am told that I am getting my Ph.D. in both waiting and having patience). Keep the faith!

hi since you are already in school i was wondering on how long it takes for the registrar to approve in state tuition once youve filled out the residency form?
