Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!
My understanding is that the school selects approximately 50 students for the Pacesetters Program and 100 students for Traditional Program. I have also been told that you have to have a previous degree to be admitted into the Pacesetter Program.
Not necessarily true. I have a friend who's currently in the Pacesetter Program and he has no previous degree.
Amymit, thanks for your post. I'm sitting here wondering what I did wrong. I'm so bummed. I tried not to get excited last week when I saw my holds change, but admittedly, I was excited. I really hoped that it was an indication of acceptance. I want to remain optimistic, but I feel so deflated.
Hi all, my name is Sarah and I have been following this thread for awhile. Thanks for all of your posts and congrats to all who have been accepted!
Vintagepeony... I am in the same boat as you. My holds changed last week, but still have the yellow triangle. I don't think we should lose hope quite yet! I doubt they are finished with acceptance changes. Stay positive!
Well I was able to call and speak to someone at the school. They were able to tell me in the registrars office that I was conditionally accepted for the "generic" BSN program :) And I was also told that emails should possibly start going out today, that they are not done accepting just yet and that letters should go out today as well......
